We should have a little scoot and shoot.

it seems that the love of things mechanical often crosses over from cars to firearms. I know it does for me. I bet it does for others as well.

we should do a drive to a shooting location and cut loose.

Dunno where, dunno when... just thinking outloud.

anyone know of a private range where this could happen?

That being said, I would not be interested in a free-for-all shoot. I'm pretty picky about who I share a firing line with, only because of the HORRIFIC things I have seen at some public ranges... waving around loaded weapons, looking down the barrel when there is mis-fire... things like that.

I dont mind a little rapid fire here and there, but all would have to agree to some standard range rules to make it safe for everyone.

I'm in. At a place I used to work, our entire department used to go on outings to the range. My manager can hollow out a dime at 100 yards with a .22 rifle - no joke. I've seen the targets.

Sounds fun! I don't think I can fit the .50 in an F-car though so we'll have to play with other toys.

Just mount a tripod on your roof. Think we'd end up with a police escort?

HaHa for a second there I thought you were talking about shooting while driving! Brings me back to good ol' Chico CA. Nothing like a twelve pack of Steinlager, a dirt road, and a twelve gauge, Hahahaha. Yes I was not to bright back then; luckily nobody was hurt. Sounds interesting!

Anybody been to the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club? It's a huge outdoor range
off Skyline Blvd.? It's been years since the last time I was there, I remember
we used to bring all kinds of plastic bottles and aluminum cans for targets.

hey that looks cool. I like the tin can range. Pick up some $1 cans of Menudo from Big Lots and go to town with some hollow points.

I'll have to give them a call and see what we can do about a group shoot.

Sound good to me:) Actually an unopened soda can will give you more thrills as they
are pressurized. Also, IIRC when I was there last time they were allowing people to do
    rapid firing.

Please count me in. I don't have a F-car (Factory Five Roadster) but I used to practice quite a bit.
I asked this on another forum and got some political mixed-anti-gun stuff posted. I ignored it but this place seems to be cool with it.

If it happen's let me know where.

Steven's Creek Rod & Gun is also another outdoor range.
Not sure if Winchester Range off of Bernal and 101 is still there.

I really wished Sharp Park was still open but it's closed down now due to some muntions found in the back of some yards; the drive would to it would have been a GREAT precursor to a shoot.

I have a .44 and 7mm T/CU barrels for my Thompson I'd like to reload.

That is a fun range. They used to let you put anything out on the open range so on any givin trip you would see Watermelons to car doors being shot up with semi auto fire. I was there abot 20 years ago and a guy brought a Cannon he made it in his machine shop. They shot a dish washer with it and it blew a hole through both sides, very exciting stuff to watch. I wonder if it is stil open.

If my memory still serves me, there were a few accidents at this range too.

I know that back in the 80's they allowed people to bring alcoholic beverages past the check in gate! Customers would sit nearby in the parking lot and have a few beers while they watched people shoot . One or two days things got a bit sloppy, so they outlawed the alcohol. There may have been other accidents but this happens from time to time. I won't name any names of ranges but I know of 2-3 in the bay area that have had accidents over the years for miscellaneous reasons. Most ranges enforce the rules well, but on any given day experts or novices can make a mistake. I recall being at a range in San Jose and the Range Master had to remove a few shooters because they repeatedly did not follow the rules or direct verbal requests. Neither of the shooters spoke English, so it was difficult for them to understand .

It'd be nice to have a "group" session. I recall one incident in an indoor range where a couple of young "kids" were actually "playing around" with a rifle; no range master in the booth area but they have a closed circuit TV, however, I got a little concerned and told them to please NOT point that anywhere but downrange. I told the range master as I was leaving.

Another incident involved Sharp Park where one guy ignored the rapid-fire rule. He was warned 2 times on the bullhorn before they ceased all firing and yelled at the guy who argued back. You should of saw everyone else that did put down their weapons but didn't remove their hands from their firearms until they were sure things were under control.

And let's not forget the incident at Targetmasters a number of years back. Had he decided to also "take others with him" before taking his own life, it could of been a really bad scene. Thankfully, he just wanted to kill himself.

At least as a group, we'll get to know one another. I'm always on-guard whenever I practive with the rest of the public; sometimes these idiots act very juvinile holding their pistols at the horizontal positions actiling like somemthing out of a 'gangsta' movie.

there are very few people I trust on an unregulated range. When I go camping with a few bros. we do some silly stuff with firearms, but everyone there has a very strict sense of firearms safety... everyone ex/current military or LEO.

Even on regulated ranges, military and LEO included, I've seen some horrific stuff, some that ended in ambulance rides and hospital time.

When we do this, everyone has to be on their game.

Playing around with firearms or going fast on the track/street is no joke. When you do either in a group you are trusting you life to others, and taking everyone else's life in your hands.

Lets keep that in mind when doing this.

I's also be down with letting a few fire some of my firearms.

The caveat would be that you would have to supply the caliber and brand of ammo for the gun. I've got some finely tuned weapons and some fun/junk weapons.

When we get this all set up, anyone interested can sign up for a PM list for a list of caliber/brand of ammo to bring to shoot a few of my weapons.

Maybe I can borrow the 357 again from a friend. I'd like to try a rifle though.
