For all of you enjoying weekend jaunts for coffee try this the next time it hits Wisconsin. My '72 C/4 and a friend's '73 Daytona (a CT resident) made the 1000+ mile trek out to the FCA National Meet/50 Anniversary in Elkhart Lake WI (Road America) July 29th. Unfortunately the the Daytona had to be shipped home on Sunday because of time constraints so my co-pilot and I continued on alone to visit friends with special car collections in southern Illinois and Indiana before heading back - 2981 miles. No problems with either car. Use your cars as often as you can, if don't they fall apart........ ;>)

Congrats on making that trip... sounds wonderful.

We Mondi owners held an event in Harrisburg PA. One of the cars made the trip from TX. Everyone commented on how well their cars were running with all of the driving, catastrophic failures notwithstanding!

Bravo Sam. 2981 miles - job well done!

I drive my 550 to work at least four times a week. If the forecast doesn't say hail or snow then the car makes the commute. Approximately 250 miles per week. The F355 spider does the weekend errand runs. Hate to let them sit in the garage.

Take it from me,drive your cars! I let my 308 sit the last 5yrs,untouched,and now it's a mess. The car was almost perfect before I put it away, and now I'm in the middle of pulling the engine out.I have coolant leaks, oil leaks, cracked dried up seals.....it goes on and on.

The sweet spot on the car is 80-85MPH. The water and oil temps drop about 10 degrees. The only hiccups were 2 quarts of oil and a couple of gauges that would wink out occasionally but come back on later. I think we averaged about 15-15 1/2 MPG at speed. The C/4 is a great long-distance touring car: the power assisted steering is relaxing (with good road feel), the a/c actually works, and for someone tall like me the seats have enough rake and back adjustment for comfort. I put a removable sun screen on the rear window and it helped a lot.

I think a lot of the New England people here put miles on their cars. I new moderators to put 1,000s on in a long weekend for Pebble Beach etc.

    Bingo!

I just bought my 612 on Friday in Cleveland, and my wife and I are driving it back to Boston. The dealer had expected me to have it shipped. I told him why would I possibly do that when I could have the enjoyment of driving back home?!

Not mega miles but I did 200+ today from Marlborough Ct up around Barkhamsted, then back roads to Lime Rock area, down through Kent, Roxbury, Southbury, Woodbury, , Thomaston and route 6 back to 84 and then home again. Beautiful day to be out in the spider. Passed a silver 360 (or 430?) heading west on 6 around the Southbury/Woodbury line. Anybody here? Waiting for some cooler weather to take the 308 GTB out.
