Don't you hate it when Ferraris only end up as "beauty queens" in garages? Don't you LOVE it seeing them being used hard on the roads? Do you agree that "Ferraris are meant to be driven"?

Well, then you will like these pictures! I took them yesterday, at a wonderful event of the Ferrari Club of the Netherlands and the Dutch "Make-a-wish Foundation". Around 60 children with mainly serious kidney diseases were given a great day by the 60+ Ferrari owners and all other participants: a nice treasure rally in a Ferrari (where the mud caused these images ;)), a visit to the Dutch version of "Seaworld", another trip with the Ferraris and finally a flight in a helicopter! The smiles on the faces of the kids were priceless :)

The second trip in the Ferrari included a high speed run on a public road of 2 miles which was closed down by the police. The cops also used a speed cam to "flash" the cars. A 575M was "caught" with 287 km/h (178 mph)!!

The kids also loved the presence of the police, who were present with 20+ motorcycles and who closed down many roads and crossings to let the whole group of Ferraris pass. Also great fun: the cops also used a fantastic "Police 328"! Great fun :D

    Enjoy the pics!!!

Totally agree that all Ferraris are meant to be driven...HARD. They are also deserve to be presented at their best look (clean) as well.

By the way, what happen to the driver got caught doing 287 km/h? Got his license banned??? I hope not.

No, it was all for fun! Thanks to the great work of the cops, many crossings were closed down so that all Ferraris could pass without problems (even through red lights, which the kids really love ;)). The cops also closed down the 2 mile public road for that high speed run, so those speeds were legal for this special event :D

Last year there was a similar event at a military base. The police was also present over there and also used their radar equipment to measure the speed of the cars on a runway, and to take photos too (fun stuff for the owners and the kids!). However, they got problems when the cars went faster than 250 km/h (155 mph)!! This year the police used some new equipment, which should be able to take good pictures until 330 km/h (205 mph).

Whow, wouldn't it be great to have such a picture on your wall: an "official" police photo of yourself being "caught" with 287 km/h, but without paying the bill :D :D :D

WOW!! now that would be fun, closing down the public road for the event and speed to 280 km/h. I take it the road you speeded was a local road, not high speed motorway. You blew my mine. The police here would not do it even if they love you. That should be really cool...

In fact, the child that was supposed to be my co-driver for the day could not attend, sadly. Sure hope he is doing well! Instead, I was accompanied by the daughter of the celeb that waved us of at the start. Boy, did she like the speed trial! As for the dirt on the car - would you believe I washed and waxed it the day before ! Oh heck, the fun an joy more than made up for it ......

    Hi,

I must recognize the pics are impressive. It's always a strange thing to see a dirty Ferrari. But IMHO I don't like dirty Ferraris. Well, maybe a very dirty Ferrari like those in the pics, but if it is not mine.

I like to drive my car (not still a Ferrari) hard, but in good wather whenever it's possible. You now, it takes a WHOLE sunday to clean a car when it's so dirty.

And IMHO, the reward of owning a Ferrari is 50% driving it and 50% seeing it waxed and perfect, like she was just out of factory even she's 20 years old.
