A friend of mine visited the aforementioned museum and saw several ultra high end motorcars including a 1962 250GTO (wears #27) and what appears to be 512M #1040. Elsewhere there is a Porsche 917K, various Bizzarini and a collection of pre war Erdmann & Rossi cars. It would appear that either this is a museum with connections to the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche Museums and several very high end collectors OR its got a home for fakes. Does anybody know any more about these guys?

The GTO is a LHD replica of 330 LM #4561 SA based on a 330 GT 2+2 #6291.

    The long way home
    Yep.

IIRC, most of the seemingly significant cars are nothing but replicas.

Cool, I found it weird that both M-B and Porsche would be lending cars to another museum in Germany......

I live near Singen and visited the first exhibitions after the opening of the museum. All were extremely disappointing in many ways. Having been there at three different mediocre exhibitions, which wanted to appear much more than they were, I never visited the museum again.

But this ist not the MAC in Singen, but the "Autobau Erlebniswelt" in Romanshorn, Switzerland! Their collection is great indeed!
    Here is a link: https://www.autobau.ch/

The MAC in Singen is a poor event as I said (looks better on the Web than in real):

No, NOT great, not at all, way too many replicas, fakes and conversions. And tons of incorrect and totally misleading placards too. A real shame, in my opinion.
Especially considering who the owner is and what his financial possibilities are.

OK, yes, I agree: "Great" maybe misleading :( But I was drawing a comparison to the MAC in Singen. And compared to that, Romanshorn is somewhat great oder let's say: better ;)

Don't Wash Mine and Kirk White was a great read, and he was a very interesting person. Wish we could hear more of the stories, but that is not to be sadly.

Yes, the stories that didn't make it into print:rolleyes:. David did an outstanding job, he would be perfect for the Penske biography.
