Just got back from Pocono Raceway. The Empire Region of the FCA ran a track day today which turned out about 60 cars. We ran the long course, which includes two high speed straights, down the main straight in front of the stands, and the whole back straight to the tunnel turn. I ran the Mondial and it did well. Unbelieveable fun!

The one thing that became abundantly clear today -- there is no substitute for horsepower!! I could hold my own in the twists and turns through the infield, but down those two long straights -- forgetaboutit! The high HP cars blew right by me. I'm going to play with the suspension, tires and brakes over the winter, but it's unlikely I can add any more HP easily. Those things should help on short road tracks like Lime Rock, but on tracks with long straights, HP rules.

While it is considered a HP track (the long course) unless you run in the red group, you can keep upo in the white-blue with a relativelylow hp car.

You just need to go through turn 1 flat out and get a really good run onto the front straight.
