Augustino's (remember FOC cruise night in July?) opened a restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Sears Tower. They invited us to showcase our cars. The weather started out really crummy, but improved from there. Free lunch and the chance of a truly unique photo op. I enjoyed stopping traffic on Wacker Dr. :)

Thanks to all who participated, to Augustino's for a free lunch and to Double K Kerry for having us.

Looks like a great time. I was "paying my dues" at the office today for taking last week off. Sorry I wasn't able to make this event.

Just another example how FOC of Chicago is great fun. Andreas, thanks again for making the arrangements and thanks to Carla, Ann and Andreas for the pictures. And to top it all off, driving in the rain did a great job cleaning my under carrage!

    Hey gang,

Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos of stunning cars in a great city. What a wonderful place to host an event!! Now I'm inspired - so,

tomorrow, I do believe I'll go to one of the few places in California that proudly serve a "proper" Chicago/Italian Beef Sandwich:)

    Cheers, Hank

Nice pics, but I'm still miffed at the reason for blocking the tags.

On any given day that you drive your car, hundreds if not thousands will see your tag.

Can anyone give me a plausible reason why this is done??

And please, don't give any copyright excuses etc. We all know who owns the cars.

Does anyone, when parking their car in a public area, remove the tag; I doubt it.

    Sooooo...............?

If there is ever a repeat of this event (I doubt it), we'll come over to your office for a few pictures. :)

PS: I'm still looking to find somebody with an office high above the Italian Village. It would be so nice to get some above shots from that event.

    PPS: Welcome to FChat!

Now Hank we all know that you can't get a decent Chicago Style anything out in Calif, especially in the LA area. I know I had relatives near you. That's why Jay Leno flies into Chicago every so often and stops by for real food! LOL That's also when I travel to Calif for work and people know I'm coming out that I have to bring care packages of ELi's Cheescake, pizza, beef, hot dogs, and my favorites White Castles. And yes I have brought all of that out over the years. But try and enjoy the beef anyway.

Pick up a copy of the October 2007 issue of 'Kit Car Builder'. There's a great article about the car that Chelle & Haley built.

Also, you can see more of the car in other threads in the Chicago section of Chat.

Great question...why block out tags when they are seen in public everyday??

    A matter of politeness.

From a rational perspective you are correct and personally I rarely black out any license plates. But there are some folks on here who are strong believers to have the plates blacked out. Can't tell you why, but it is out of courtesy and respect that some folks do this.
