One of the first days of Mai 2016 the gearbox in my 360 blew up due to the well known gearbox heat exchanger failure. The car has done aprox 20 T miles.
My local Ferrari dealer here in Denmark is doing the rebuild. From the start I was told that it would take some 7 weeks. Now 6 months lather we still do not have the parts needed.
All this time my dealer has tried to get an answer from Ferrari when we could expect to have the parts. Ferrari did not even bother to answer. 2 ½ month ago I I myself contacted Ferrari Customer service for owners. I got a very nice reply. The parts were on there way and would come next week. Well you guessed it NO parts. After some more mails they now refer me back to my dealer. I am still sending them mails – now they don’t even try to estimate when or if the part ever will come. I have asked for the name and e-mail of the CEO of the Parts Division. Ferrari will not give it to me.

If I have had this information 6 months ago I could have gone for a different solution – a used gearbox – used parts ect.

Yes this is an older car, but Ferrari used the same gearbox up to 2009. So we are talking about parts for some of the most expensive cars in the world sold until 7 years ago and you can break down and not get it back on the road because Ferrari doesn’t care!

How arrogant can Ferrari treat us their customers and still believe that we will continue buying their cars? I do not believe Porsche, Mercedes, Bentley, Aston Martin etc. have so poor customer care.

Ferrari makes dreams – for me a bad dream

I would just source a used gear box and do a charge back on the parts (if you paid for them yet). flatbed the car from the dealer to an independent and have your car back in a week.

Try Ricambi America. Betcha Daniel either has, or can get what you need.

If you want used, Eurospares has a couple 360's they're busting up for parts right now, and probably has more than 1 gearbox on the shelves in their 200,000 SF warehouse.

Ferrari has never been better supplying parts than they are now, it has been a fact of life for a very long time. Rather than being mad at Ferrari for living up to their usual level of efficiency you should be mad at your dealer for not advising you of the very real and probable situation and giving you a choice of a used transmission from the outset.

You dealer is responsible for your bad dream for not informing you of the realities of the situation.

+1 Ferrari is good at making a great car, they are not German with spare parts. It is always faster and less costly to buy used on large assemblies. Your dealer should have told you that, they know all about it. And let's be realistic this is a part that has been out of production for a minimum of 12 years(the 430 box is not identical). Don't get upset work the issue in a different manner and get back to enjoying your car. Find an Indy shop to help you.

Personally, I'll still buy their very excellent products and work around the few parts issues. Just mho.

I do this for a living, and your dealer should have checked availability and been up front about this. If Italy did not have it, they should have been sourcing the needed parts from another vendor. You should never have to go past the dealer to make things happen. If your having to do that, the dealer is not doing their job.

Exactly. I always check availability of expected parts prior to tear down.

It's been my experience that many, if not all authorized dealers have access to the inventory of other dealers to see who may have parts in stock.

While I'm a big fan of Eurospares, I'm guessing that aside from normal use items, they are not going to have the inventory of authorized factory channels. I purchase many items from them along with a few authorized dealers and once in a while Eurospares will have new parts that are NLA via dealers. I suspect in those cases, they made a purchase to buy all left over stock.

I would suspect that to the pro's in the business, it's well know to have several suppliers within the network to find parts, especially the older ones.

You should be upset at your dealer. You shouldn't be the one trying to locate the parts for your car. The dealer should do that. I would take a legal action against the dealer for all the delays.

"I would take a legal action against the dealer for all the delays"
    so says the US denizen.

Note that the OP is from Denmark, not nearly as litigious as "we" are.

not a personal attack, just a commentary on common US mindset.

OP, good luck sorting it out

    Good luck with that!

Ferrari no longer supply 360 ABS units for euro cars nor undertrays for 355's. I haven't been able to buy slow down ecu's for 2.7 motronic cars for six weeks. Shall I sue the (seven) supply chains I use because these parts arent available?

    Agreed.

I know there was some law requiring auto manufactures to maintain spare parts for a period of time after production but it certainly is not 20 years.....

The spirit of the law was to prevent cars from being obsolete after just a few years if a part was not available. Auto manufactures could force people to buy a new car after a year do to some lack a simple part.

It's obviously vert costly for companies to stock warehouse selves with the home and dream all these parts will be sold.
