Nice pic Branko !! The Scaglietti spyder with the white hood in the middle of the pic is s/n 0552M and Harry Schell with #6...
Hi Cyril, where can we find a list of the entrants in that race, I have another car in the practices with number 52 with the venezuelan colors, by the way I am going this week to meet the remains of 0302 or whatever this is. Any suggestios for what to look for are welcome. Looks like a couple of Ferraris between Marcotulli and Fayen in the same race. branko Image Unavailable, Please Login
This thread is current and M.M. refers to 0173E as the original car for this block. According to the Barchetts listing for this car it went to Venezuela in 1951 where the running gear was discovered at some point in the 1980s. Any more info on this car??? Thanks just one man's opinion tongascrew
Tongascrew, wonder what race did Collins participate in Venezuela? Mr Wang has the engine of 0758 installed in 0722 according to Barchetta, lets see what the historians can add to the history of 0173E, there is a lot of missing data regarding participations of Ferraris in Venezuela. branko
A couple of pictures rescued from the trash, in the first there are 0758 and 0726, in the second there are 0618 and 0352 that finished 2nd and 4th, you can also see 0418 in the background. branko Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

i have my father looking for more ferrari pics from venezeula and he found this peroid picture of my grandfather's 1947 jaguar. pictured are my father, my uncle bobby and my grand mother eva lote. a quick story on the car as recollected by my father... The silver car is the 1947 Jaguar… It has a very interesting history: My Dad purchased the car from England in I believe in 47 and had it shipped to Venezuela. The car was then totally stripped of its doors, trunk (the trunk weighed a ton since it had a FULL complement of factory tools embedded in the trunk space), removed the fenders… hood halves… interior. Then car was equipped with two large gas tanks in the rear pas compartment and door frames fabricated out of alum and covered with doped canvas (same as airplanes). The fenders were a la cycle. The two exhaust pipes (Huge) were snaked to the back on the outside of the car. I remember the roar!!!! The car was entered in the Caracas to Merida through the Andes mountains and back to Caracas. The driver was a Hungarian by the name Ballogh and I believe that my dad also was the driver. This race was won by I believe a 47 Ford Coupe. The Jag placed but don’t remember what spot. sorry to get off topic but i hope you all would find the picture and story fun. best, pcb Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just found a new photo of 0534 before it was modified to left hand drive, took 1rst in class driven by Jose Zilio in this race, then had an accident in 1960 in Cucuta Colombia and modified the car. more for your book branko Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry to step so far backwards to post #124, but the car pictured in these two pictures is not TdF #0683. TdF #0683 is a 14 Louvre TdF, unlike this one. Cheers, Mark
You are right Mark it is a 14 louvre but it was already modified to one louvre when Gino Munaron brought it to Venezuela in 1958 and sold to an engineer and he sold it to Deambrogio in the 60s for 5000 Bs less than 1200$ at the time, 0683 was the only one with the 3rd Windshield wiper, I enclose a photo. branko. Hello Branko, Thank-you for posting the many pictures from racing in S.America, with focus on Venezuela. Have enjoyed this thread! Now, on to 500 TR (#0618), I've pieced together from the thread the following races for 500 TR #0618, but I'm missing many key things, like dates, finishes (OA and class), drivers, ownership dates, etc., etc. Am also probably missing many races. Can you fill in the blanks in 0618's racing history and when it left Venezuela: 1957 Returned by Francorchamps to the factory in October 1957. Ferrari sold it to Kauffmann the Concessionaire in Venezuela. Massini: I understand that body modificationswere done before the sale to South America. 1957 Sold 5 October to Julio Pola a Spaniard living in Caracas, Venezuela, for his Scuderia Madunina, painted white with central stripes in different colors. Car raced by Julio Pola & Piero Drogo in South America 1957 Venzuelan GP Caracas, 2nd Class (S2.0)/8th OA, Piero Drogo/Julio Pola #38 ( 3 Nov.) Madunina Venezuela Entry Per David S. : Good photo in Burnside pg. 139 of #38. It is clearly 0618, no doubt. 1958 Sold to Jose Miguel Galia, Caracas, VEN 1958 Trinidad, Julio Pola #16 Pic on file 1959 Ciudad Ojeda, Jose Miguel Galia #16 1960 Cumbres de Curumo (Venezuela) #166 - Jose Miguel Galia? Sold to Chinetti's NART in the USA c. 1962. Who was the last owner in Venezuela? Who sold it to Chinetti in 1962? Any idea who was the first owner after Chinetti in the USA? Any pics to support same would be great.. Cheers, Mark
I will try to help you with what I have, the main problem we face is that all the documents and files from the early races were lost in a flood of the office of TOURING AUTOMOVIL CLUB DE VENEZUELA probably what I have is not 100% correct but it is all that was gathered among old timers and the widows of those that are no longer with us.. The white paint and the stripes are the Venezuelan livery, stripes are yellow, blue and red the Venezuelan flag. I believe there is a mix up here, Pola raced with #117 and finished 2nd to Marcotulli (Maserati 3000) in El Limon in June 1958. Pola finished 2nd to Marcotulli (Ferrari TR 250 0758) in La Trinidad in November 1958. Galia raced with #16 (have to see his widow soon) and to my knowledge raced this car only in Ciudad Ojeda 1959 where he finished 3rd winner was Jose Zilio with 0534 Cumbres de Curumo September 1960 finished 2nd to Galia in 0758, the car was painted red and the driver was G Megal (which I believe was an alias ) Who was the last owner in Venezuela? Who sold it to Chinetti in 1962? No idea.[ There is at least one more race unconfirmed in a hillclimb, once confirmed I'll let you know. For the pictures I will start with some of the race in Cumbres I beleive most of the others have been posted. Hope I answered some of your doubts. branko Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Branko, Thank-you for the pictures and updates. Okay, below is 'Take II', incorporating your corrections and updates: 500 TR (#0618): 1957 Sold 5 October to Julio Pola a Spaniard living in Caracas, Venezuela, Via Venezuelan Ferrari Importer, Carlos Kauffmann, for Pola's Scuderia Madunina, painted white with central stripes in different colors. The white paint and the stripes are the Venezuelan livery, stripes are yellow, blue and red the Venezuelan flag. Car raced by Julio Pola, Piero Drogo, Jose Miguel Galia and a "G. Megal", all in South America. By sometime prior to 1960 the car was painted red. 1957 Venzuelan GP Caracas, 2nd Class (S2.0)/8th OA, Piero Drogo/Julio Pola #38 ( 3 Nov.) 1958 El Limon (Venezuela), 2nd OA, Julio Pola #117 (June) 1958 Trinidad (Venezuela), Julio Pola ?? 1958 Sold to Jose Miguel Galia, Caracas, VEN 1959 Ciudad Ojeda (Venezuela), 3rd OA, Jose Miguel Galia #16 1960 Cumbres de Curumo (Venezuela), 2nd OA, G. Megal (Alias?) #166 (Sept.) Car now painted red for the 1960 Cumbres de Curumo event. 196? Unknown Hillclimb, Sold to Chinetti's NART in the USA c. 1962.
Hi Mark and you are welcome, found the hillclimb, it is Subida de la Montaña, Mare Pedro Garcia held in April 1958. Pola 3rd OA and 1st in class behind Lollobrigida in 0352 and Marcotulli in Maserati 3054. About G Megal in Cumbres I said I beleive is an alias, because that name was never heard before or after, and the driver looks to be someone known to me (there are a few cases that people used aliases for different reasons) branko
Hi Mark: You can ad two mores races on 0618 as follows: - 1958 Ciudad de Valencia, Julio Pola # 117, 1st OA - 1959 La Trinidad, Caracas, José Miguel Galia # 16, 5th OA
Hello jsalgatti (sorry I don't know your given name), Thank-you. Any pictures of 0618 at the 1958 Ciudad de Valencia, or 1959 La Trinidad, Caracas? Any idea as to the dates for the above venues? How about the class finish for the 1959 La Trinidad, Caracas? Last question: Is the below a correct race listing for 0618 and is there more information about this race, eg, finish and date? 1958 Trinidad (Venezuela), Julio Pola ?? Cheers, Mark
