Ah, American bravado. It is what makes us so popular and so well liked around the world!

Steve is a really good guy and inventive fellow, and I’ve driven a two of his ex-works racecars in club events. It just seems as if North America is the wrong place to try to become a niche automobile constructor due to EPA and DOT, not to mention CARB! Except for trying to “buy American” and support Steve’s efforts, it would be hard for me to envision buying his S7 over a Carrera GT.

I just saw today on german TV a story about Steve and the new S7 Twin turbo.
Not bad, 3 seconds for the 0-100km/h and a top-speed from ovver 350 km/h! But 500.000,- Euros.......thats way too much IMO.
The Saleen is very popular in europe since the GT champion ship - but no dealers are around!
I have had the pleasure to see a S7 last year at LoD (Dallas), its an awesome great car but only for smidgens;)

I´ll build you a Evo 1-2-3 that will blow saleen S7´s doors off with 20k including car purchase. If you want performance....go 4G63, if you want driving enjoyment...buy a exotic.

    SO?

Saleen would be hard pressed to find any other sports car company with as many championship wins as Ferrari. Saleen is still a young'n in the business and thus, explaining such cocky claims. GROW UP SALEEN.

Yeah he's a young gun in the business, but he really has come a long way in relatively short amount of time. To me the S7 is just too expensive.

i guy i know has a modified EVO 3 and it beats a 400hp camaro!!

we once modified an EVO 6 up to 350 hp and it scared the crap out ....it was SOOOO FAST , the owner of the car tryed out a 355 after wrecking the evo and instead of buying the 355 he told us that the EVO was fster and decided to buy another one, but an EVO 8

Or just get an FQ340 version of an EVO8.

And after you're done waxing the Murcialago at the track, ....

    ... you're still sitting in a Japanese econobox. :D

An EVO8 is my winter rat -- it might be a tad quicker than the 328, but the EVO is also one of the most uncomfortable cars I've ever owned. And the Ferrari is still better on less-than-ideal pavement.

(I made a quick turn the other night -- but while the streets were asphalt, the corner itself was concrete. Remember all those images of F1 cars sliding in the concrete pits? Ayup. (Whatinhell was the town thinking?!) Good thing I left some reserve. The EVO is far more sensitive to stuff like that than the Ferrari.)

If races were decided by numbers alone, they'd be run in a computer, instead of on the track.

-- Oh, wait: GranTur4: Most people *do* only race in the computer. ;)

funny...I almost put my foot in my mouth and said the shirt should put Lambo in place of Corvettes.....as Saleen shouldn't waste their time racing Vettes....good thing I didn't say that.....lol.

As Enzo himself used to say...."It's not how fast you go, but how you go fast"

I agree with the japanese economy box part. But thing is....I see ALOT of guys owning ferrari´s and such getting all hyped up about performance numbers. My point was that a Evo 1-3 will cost you 1/10th of the price of a used 360, and with very easy simple mods will outrun 99% of the cars you meet on the road. I dont care much about the newer Evo´s.....6-7-8, I like the early ones alot more....they look better, weigh less, and cost nothing.
Ahh....this thread recalls me of when me and my brother was out in the 10 sec Evo 2 on the street and the cops pulled us over......you should see the face´s they made when they saw a old rally car in Red/black with sponsor stickers on drag slicks and a stripped out interior humming besides the sidewalk.......priceless.

From what I can remember, it was very real and I don't think Saleen found out until it was posted on the net. The guy had his shirt buttoned right up until the pic was taken.

This was a little before the S7 was introduced; there were a lot of disgruntled Mustang owners running around who learned that they had paid 2x the price for powder-coated Eibach parts.
