Thank you for this post, made my day. Since Teddy left, McLaren sucks in every way imaginable, but I enjoyed the way their representative laughed at the situation. And you have to give credit to the Ferrari people for their sense of humor. Apparently Luca Vador was not around.

we saw that as we were standing directly across from the pit box watching - the people in the stand behind us were yelling something in Spanish and then the Ferrari people took the panels which they used to "close" the area in front of the garage and put them to block the McLaren guys - no big deal with Sauber directly to their right doing the same thing with practice pit stops

But, it's a "story" if Ferrari do it.....

And only McLaren could have a "representative" laughing :)

    Welcome home!

    Cheers,

The only thing better would have been the Ferrari logo on the panels.

thanks - just got in about half an hour ago (this was a weekend of late planes/missed connection/AA flt from Madrid to Dallas was delayed an hour with a mechanical issue/turburlance on IBERIA flt from Chicago on Thursday was some of the worst I think I've seen. It was 10.5+ hours to DFW....with two iPhones (one was back-up when I ran the battery down on the other) I played the Cows in Space app for about 9 of those hours - didn't take much to amuse me today!

. . . . don't have a clue what those people in the stands were saying but it didn't take long to get the Ferrari guy's attention and out came the partitions

Here's a similar clip from Sepang a good few years back, but this time its Ferrari Crew doing the spying / annoying. :)

I think i have just found my dream job. Dress up in Ferrari team gear, with a clipboard, pen, and camera around my neck, and hang around outside the Mclaren pit garage for the whole race weekend, doing my best to disrupt, agitate and provoke....

Well, they'd be stupid not to try to have a look... you can hardly blame any team for that kind of "spying"!

Alan McNish gets a look at the Peugeot. Petite LeMans/Road Atlanta 2008.

In 2009 Alan signed it with "Well I have not seen the back view very often." Heh Heh.

    +1

Does anyone else remember the Ferrari guy (IIRC?) who was caught *inside* the Williams (?) transporter taking pictures! - Again, IIRC, they locked him in until they could train a camera on the door as they let him out! - with a very red face...... :D

    Cheers,
    Ian

Back in the day my clipboard had a scale drawn on it. As I would wallk past other cars, my shoe lace would need tying and I would lean it against a strategic part.....

other times, I would carry a decal or something to 'scale' whatever I was interested in.

Nigel Stroud was good at that type of thing, he wasn't called "Ferret" for nothing.

Honestly, for anyone to be genuinely upset over this is silly.

I just got back from a trade show where you better believe I investigated what all my competitors are doing and they all came and investigated what I am doing.

It's done in a friendly and legal way, and jokes like we saw on the video are common and usually taken in good humor.
