With the new year upon us, I figured what better time to share a look through the last 10 years of ferrari sightings in The Woodlands. Although, this could of been posted under the Houston area spotters thread, because of it's length, I felt this post deserved its own seperate thread. Having the pleasure of literally growing up here, my family moved to the "newly developed" Woodlands back in 1981 when I was just 5 years old. Many years later and after school and getting married, I have remained and ironically enough, am currently employed with The Woodlands Township.

I was introduced to my first ferraris in early 1989, when a friend's father purchased a 308 gtsi quickly followed by a 328. I soon found myself extremely passionate about these spectacular machines; a passion that still lives deep within me to this day. Although currently not an owner, I am slowly finding myself in a position to one day own and live out my dream.

Through the years I have seen several incredible cars here and have gotten to know many great owners. Although it isn't difficult to spot nice examples of porsches, lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Bentleys and others on just about any pretty day, seeing the ferraris does something to me that only hardcore ferrari lovers will understand. My wife thinks I am crazy...LOL.

With that, I would like to share a list of nearly 100 detailed accounts I have gathered from over the past 10 years of ferraris I have seen in and around The Woodlands.

    Honorable Mentions...
The first honorable mention was spotting a brilliant red Enzo last summer cruising north along FM 2978 where it then headed east onto FM 1488. It was the first I have seen in the area.

The second is worth mentioning even though it was seen in 1995. I was heading east on I-10, coming home from a weekend in San Antonio. Nearing Hwy 6, we got stuck in some horrible afternoon traffic. Finally nearing the scene after what felt like an hour, we came up on a horrible site; multiple police and emergency vehicles and....my first F40...that had smashed into the guardrail. Parked just in front of him was a nice new 355 gtb as well. Obviously, they were playing cat and mouse...and the mouse won.

The last and most noteworthy mention was recently seeing for the first time my friend Pierre's (owner of the scuderia above) black 1963 250 gt Lusso. Those of you who have seen some of the vintage 250 series cars up close know just how beautiful these cars are. If any of you local fellows saw two guys cruising around in one of these a few weeks back near The Woodlands...probably was us.

Again, thanks for your time and hope you that know the area enjoy.

Wow! You have it bad. :)

Maybe you got my old silver Maranello in the Sterling Ridge sighting, but I also used to drive a Challenge Stradale and a 1967 330 GTC around. Alas, all are now gone.

PS I moved here in 1978.

PPS You may want to join the Houston chapter of the FCA. There are quite a few member cars in north Houston.

Thanks for the reply Dale and nice to hear from you. I am sure with you being in the area since '78 we have crossed paths at some point in time and just didn't realize it. I guess at that time you started out as a Grogan's or Panther Creek resident? Quite a bit has changed since then...doesn't have much of the "small town feel" anymore...LOL.
I assume the Maranello was yours, haven't seen any others. I was a very nice car by the way.
Thanks for mentioning the group, I have been needing to join for sometime now. I am a new dad which has taken up a bit of time lately. By chance are you going down to the event tomorrow? I talked with Luigi about it earlier today and may make it if time allows.
    Glad you liked the post.

I hear you Frissen. As long as I have lived here and as much as I am out and about (not to mention dragged around shopping with the wife), it still amazes me the number of new cars and new owners I see over a given period. I imagine there are still a number of cars that we just don't see.
    Nice pic.
