This is one busy season, isn't it? Ferrari Club of America has its annual "Ferraris on Monroe Street" event on Sunday the 29th at the Italian Village in downtown Chicago. Nice event, they block off that part of the road and park the cars on either side. Lunchbuffet at the Italian Village is usually free for folks who bring a Ferrari or Maser. The proceeds normally benefit a good cause. Expect about 50 cars on display, of course a concours is tied to it as well. I'll be there with the 308 and snatch some pictures.
Will it be similar to Oak Street Event. Its sad that summer is ending and winter is coming I remember oak street june 6th like it was yesterday.
Very similar to Oak street, but on a smaller scale with the added benefit of some really great food at the Italian Village.
Andreas, Spoke to Mike E. this week. Says he will be there around 9am. Since its also F1 in Spa ( and maybe World Title #7 for Schumi), we will drive downtown shortly after the Champoagne has flown, after the race.... See you all there! Life is "tuff" when you have a choice of a Daytona or a 308 !!! Congrats! Gisela
Thanks for the update! No though decision at this moment, the "Daytona" is still in the shop getting new brakes and suspension, but making steady progress. But it will take years until it reaches the level of detail of the 308. No wing though...
Heres a few pics from the day. Check out Andreas cool shades. He must have been having "visions of Ferrari's" at the time I took this shot. Helmut & Gisela Schultz were loving it up, and clowns on stilts were entertaining the kids. Turned out to be a fine day, great food, and a very full street. Bravo ! Dave, I love the shot you took of me. When you're a "photographer" it is so rare you get any decent shots of yourself. BTW: I'll retaliate with one of you. So much for the niceties, now let's get real: The paint job on my 308 is not top notch I agree, but for crying out loud: The car is red, not orange! Once the Bendl household has recuperated from the latest acquisition I strongly recommend a nice digital camera like the D70. Seriously. You have the eye for it, so let's get the equipment to do it with.
Sheesh Dave, It's about time you upgrade your camera. I'm tired of seeing orange Ferraris.....that colour is reserved for Lambos! Sorry I missed the event as I was at an RR party in Mattawa, at the most fantastic home I've ever seen. I swear, the house was as long as a football field!!! Anyway, it seems that the RROC-LMR and the FCA Midwest always plan their events on the same days. It would be nice for us multi car club members, if something could be worked out so events aren't planned on the same dates.......I wonder if it's possible? But I digress, and didn't mean to change the subject. Sorry Andreas. Dave, buy a friggin camera that shows true colour.....NUFF SAID!!
Yeah, I noticed that as well. What camera and filter did you use? I was getting orange pics all day at the Automobile Italiane show.
My cellphone cam was taking orange pics as well, otherwise pics turned out fine on my minolta. http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/DX/DXA.HTM
DAVE DOES NOT CARE ANYMORE.... HIS NEW CAR IS BLACK! And Skip, Curtail your obnoxious displays, "I have a Rolls Royce, I have a Rolls Royce, I have a Rolls Royce", WE KNOW, you told us, you're just too good for us, "I'm going to the Rolls Royce party and you can't come",WE KNOW! "We had the absolutely best Champagne with our warm Brie and sliced pears", WE KNOW! (8->} Just kidding........
By the way, Thanks to Mike, Drew and everybody else that helped to stage this event, in my opinion it was the best Monroe St. ever, except one detail, I MISS THE PHEASANT STUFFED PASTA. (8->}
Here some of my shots, beginning with the Iron Man on LSD that morning and ending with some F cars chasing around downtown after the event:
Wow, what a great day for a thrashing from fellow F-Chat members for my orange pics. Thank you, may I have another? Yes, I have been having problems with my Fuji 3800, but until I find a digital camera that meets all the features I want, I won't be out buying another to have some other nagging problems. I don't want one that's the size of a full size SLR, yet not so small that it's hard to hold on too. I would like to be able to add a wide angle lens as well. If anyone knows of such a digital camera that also has good color recognition please, make a recommendation. Also, would like to stay within a Da-Rolls budget of under $1.00. Sorry Skip, couldn't resist. Touche' ! Dave
I was going to write in your defense early today but important calls came in. I agree with not a single thing said on this thread about your picture contribution. The few times I have had conversation with you Dave, you have been extremely nice and open. I think your pics are fine and dandy because... If I recall they nagged you about getting the Boxer. Then nagged you to show up as much as you can with it. Now they are nagging you about getting a new picture taking toy. What's next with the madness Chitown Fchat? You going to request poor Dave get a nomex suit to use, a Falcon Jet to fly to FOC events in, make him buy most of the English speaking part of Switzerland, and change his name to Dave Shcudel? Run Dave, run to where you are given respect! Now you can outrun them all in your new toy! RocketBoy
