I'd like to take my 355 Spider down to Northern Spain/South West France, but don't fancy clocking up a huge mileage on boring payages, so the ferries to Bilboa/Santander look like good options. But I'm wondering whether I'd have problems with grounding when driving on or off the ferries - the 355 has very poor ground clearance (much worse than the 430), and the long front overhang doesn't help.

So if anyone has any experience of these ferries, your advice would be appreciated!

Did the Santander crossing 2 years ago 18 hours. Get the 1st class accomodation if you want comfort as the small cabins are tiny and we had some lager louts next door so no sleep. We had a 360 then but you wont have a problem with the 355 as they are so used to putting these cars on and they take great care in loading.
If you are going via Burgos its vvvery slow till you pass through but the views are stunning.

Took my 355spider to Marbella a few years ago, and used the 36hr ferry, never again, I would go for the 24hr crossing but it hadn't started yet as it was March/April I think, other than that loved it. Anyway Ferry clearence is ok, but it did scrape coming off and on but not too much of a problem, usually issues when the tide is out or something, but it was ok for us, and the sun was splitting the sky at 9am as me and another yellow spider came off parallel they guy waving us off the ferry just started to smile as we legged it out of the boat and up the port exit, totally amazing, drove all the way to Marbella in a day down the E5, through Madrid, but think I went to Bilbao as it's closer.

Again I would get a good cabin external facing, I had no view and felt sick most of the time with no lighting or view!!

Loved ragging it through the Gorge as the noise was immense bouncing off the cliff walls!!!
