My first 'serious' problem with my FF ... the air condition failed Friday at 21,000 miles. The dealer will pick it up Monday and I will report the findings BUT they told me that they had two 458's in the last couple weeks that had A/C failure, both with a valve with a leaking seal. We will see if mine has the same problem.

Otherwise the power and beauty of the FF is the BEST KEPT SECRET of all Ferrari's! (But the best of you knew that didn't you)

You really ought to get K40 blocker radar permanently installed and get rid of the wires - you will love it

Sorry to hear that. I don't believe this is a unique to Ferrari problem. Other vehicles I've owned had failures, sometimes right out of the box so to speak.

Rick, did the compressor motor fail or is there a refrigerant leak and it's no longer blowing cold air?

No cold air but neither is the compressor running which it wouldn't if the refrigerant is gone, i.e. rpm at idle is not idled up. MAG is picking it up today to see what is going on. I'll let you know.

It will be interesting to see if it is the same part as the 458's. But you are correct, no biggie.

Confirmed leaking pressure switch. The part numbers are different, 458 switch is available as a separate item, FF switch is part of a pipe but the switches are identical. It will be fixed sometime tomorrow :)

So, if you have an A/C failure you can bet on this pressure switch being bad.

Switch replaced and car is on its way back:). The switch is part of a tube ... $900 for the part, $1,022 with Freon if it were NOT under warranty:).

Warranty attaches to the car John, not the owner.

    Thanks for the info.

    I hadn't heard of any 458 A/C failures ... or Californias.

I had heard complaints that the newer A/C systems can't cut it in really warm climates. We sometimes travel across the SW US desert in summer so good A/C is a must.

.How do you find the A/C in your FF. Can it cope with real serious heat?

London was 34 yesterday, inside the car (from being parked in the sun) the temp was 44 degrees.

A/C was good, dropped the temp very quickly, nice and comfortable.

+1. 33 degrees in Kent yesterday and felt a lot hotter! Air con works as it should. Car nice and cool in no time and the air vented seats makes it that much more comfortable.

it has been hot and humid in the Northeast this summer...brutal. The A/C in both cars (458 and FF) has worked as well as our BMW - i.e. very well.

I have seen critique's of the 458 A/C in climates like Las Vegas, would agree the vent system might be better designed, but (knock on wood), no problems here.

A/C in the FF is perfect. We have had a few really hot days here in NW Ohio but the FF A/C kept up with no problems. I really don't have any complaints on the FF at all.

Midwestern Auto Group (MAG) told me they had two 458's with the same leaky switch within the last few weeks. On the 458 you can change the switch, the FF required changing the pipe it mounts to as it came as a unit.

34 C is not super hot for my neck of the woods. Anyone have experience with more in the 38-40C or 98-104F temps?? I had not even thought about the A/C not keeping up.

I live in Scottsdale, Arizona and this summer with high temperatures around 106 to 112 F daily, the FF had no problem with the A/C keeping the inside of the car cool.
