I sat in an FF today at the Geneva motor show that had the new head unit. Unfortunately the car wasn't powered but from what I could tell the unit head is completely different plus there are two new USB ports (no more dedicated cables) - one in the glove box and one in the central storage box. Therefore I don't think these can be dealer retrofitted because it would require cutting and cabling.

Thanks Mark. That's what I feared, based on the pictures of the video. Guess we will not be enjoying CarPlay unless they make a retrofit software... oh well, at least I'm able to BT stream music and google maps into the current headunit

ive heard from the dealer today and they said they can not do it.
however mercedes is trying to add it to the old models and i think soon ferrari will think of a way.
the dealer told me one of their customers which had ordered a new one can not get it even though his car isnt made yet.

Maybe the factory has allocated some old inventory of head units it has to unload before switching over to the new units. If that's the case, maybe the customer can simply offer to pay extra for another head unit. Would seem logical if the car's not built yet.

I found it by accident. I've only used it once, on the way back from SF to LA. Basically, my phone was hooked up via BT for making phone calls. I punched in the destination on my iphone using Google Maps, and when it came time to a voice direction (ie, turn left onto XYZ street), it would come on the audio and then would end by saying (call ended).... Basically, I think it just mistakens the google maps command as an incoming call.

    Hope this helps.

Its not likely at all they will make this backwards compatible. If you want CP in your Ferrari, you'll likely need to get a new Ferrari.

Seriously? You're talking about Ferrari here. They don't do those kind of upgrades. If you want new infotainment features you trade your car in for a new one or get something aftermarket fitted (which I don't recommend).
