FF and pothole protection

I first learned this about 20 years ago. In 2001 I bought my wife a brand new Jaguar S-Type (the car that had the retro Jaguar look). At that time Ford owned Jaguar and in the US the Lincoln LS was the American companion car. Out of warranty the window regulator in the passenger door failed. Jaguar wanted $575 for the part. Fortunately I was on a Jaguar car forum and learned that the same Lincoln LS window regulator was $250. Busted!
