FF as a DD

There is no "cons" only "pros"...

Have used my 2012 FF almost daily for near 3 years with great pleasure. Not a single problem!

Liked so much that I will receive tomorrow a new FF with panoramic roof, Apple CarPlay etc.

Only con is depreciation versus your Porsche. Consider buying used so the origional owner takes the $100k hit in the first year (US market)

 

No need for dry weather to drive your FF daily! Here is how mine looks right now. Covered in salt and needing a wash. I don't think you'll regret going for the FF for one moment we've been having a blast with ours.

 

Cool photo. How about a thread that allows only photos of FFs in snow, rain, covered with dirt, salt... whatever. "The Official Dirty FF Picture Thread." No clean beauties allowed.

Used FF is the way to go, it looks like a Cayenne TTS bought new would lose even more in a year then let's say 2 year old FF with a few thousand miles bought at the same time and driven the same miles.
Interesting thread for me personally as my wife is asking for FF to replace her R.Rover LWB later this year when our 2nd son goes to college.
Considering either new Speed or slightly used FF, she despises Cayenne....

It has already been said, no cons, all pros. I have over 45,000 miles on my 2012 FF, driven summer and winter, rain or shine. The FF is Ferrari's best kept secret. The only con is depreciation but I can tell you that I've had well over $200K worth of fun in mine already. Yesterday I bought a 2012 with 17'000KM as a DD until the "face-lift" FF comes out in 2016. i am wondering however if it is worth it to replace the rear boxes with capristos (not the x-pipe and box combination - just the boxes) as it seems very restricted.....

thoughts...insight?

 

What is mean by restricted?

FF has 660HP, I can think of maybe a handful of normal production cars that has more, LaFerrari, P1, 918, F12, Aventador and Hellcats. It is definitely not HP restricted.

As for the noise factor, the car is loud outside, but Ferrari made the car a bit quieter inside on purpose, windows are double glazed and extra sound damping materials.

 

Ferrari interiors tend to wear fast due to the high quality leather. People are too concerned with depreciation, it is a consumable it only makes sense for it to depreciate in value as it is used...

 

I think he means the sound from the mufflers is more restricted than he would like.

I really think the only issues with the FF as a daily car are:

Coupe form factor means moving the seat to get rear passengers in/out. Can get old. But not everyone will be bothered by this.

FF doesn't have the latest gadgets and toys - but makes up for it with the 660HP V12.

Its a Ferrari and though its not a Red LaFerrari, it will get more attention. That could be a pro or a con depending.

 

Exhaust sounds restricted, not power (by any means).

 

1st 2 sounds is from my FF and my F12, 3rd sound is from my 918. All are recorded same distance from the rear bumper, I guess that kind of handicapped the 918 as the exhaust pipes are farther away.

See if you guys can tell among the 1st 2, which one is from the F12 and which is from the FF.

That's funny! So now do this again from like 20' away from each. It's not fair what you did to the poor P-car.

No doubt: up close, Ferrari engineers have managed the sound to perfection at start up. No idea which is which. And no care. Truth is, I've heard both in an enclosed space, at cold start, and the sound is glorious and nearly indistinguishable. They both sound insane, and I love that sound at start up when both pipes are open.

 

Best guess after listening only once:

Sound 1 is the FF and Sound 2 is the F12

 

I'd guess the second sound clip is from the FF

 

Yes, 2nd clip is from the FF. Really not much difference in sound vs the F12.

 

No better sound than a V12 Ferrari

 

there is no doubt that the V12 sounds wonderful. I drove my 458 today for the first time in about a month and its different than the V12 but it sure sounded great..... is one or the other better? I cannot say... tough call!
