Does anyone have details on the sound system and how hard it is to swap things out? I didn't get HiFi on my car. What am I possibly missing?

You aren’t missing much. Even the premium system is poor.

I measured the frequency response of my premium system and created a post on how to EQ it to improve it.

Other alternatives are to replace it with an aftermarket system which any competent installer should be able to do.

How does it compare to the base and/or premium system in something like a BMW?

That's what I was going to guess

As long as it's not fiber or whatever for the speakers

I'll whip out my multi meter when the car gets here and get to work

I have the Harman Kardon system in my BMW with the full logic 7. The FF premium is also a Harman Kardon logic 7 system but I believe it was the first iteration. I measured my BMW and then EQ’d the FF to match. It’s a massive improvement in the FF when stationary but when on the move the BMW still sounds better.

I would encourage anyone contemplating a stereo upgrade to read ANOpax’s post. His solution is clever, scientific and most Importantly, it works. I added the additional step of adding an Audioquest Beetle through the aux in. With the beetle I get Bluetooth connectivity to a hugely superior d-a converter, digital clock /jitter reduction. I feed the music through the onkyo equalizer app optimized for our ff’s interior frequency tuning and thus signal is digitally fed to the beetle over Bluetooth and reclocked. You can use hd audio files for even better dynamics. The sound improvement is pretty dramatic. It’s easy and convenient to use as it steam over Bluetooth automatically. Best $200 stere improvement I have ever done.....and being an audiophile, I have spent a lot more time and money for less over the years. Give it a try.....what do you have to lose?

Thank you for the kudos and the recommendation of the audioquest beetle. For a €150/$200 dongle it’s worth a try (I’m going to give it a go).

In case anyone is interested enough in reading my original thread on the subject, here’s the link.
