Has anyone here had any experience of one of these systems on an FF? I've noticed that they've recently become available and would be interested to know before taking the plunge.

It's not the 'valves open' sound that I'm interested in. They have produced a new x-pipe and muffler system that is supposed to improve sound quality and slightly increase power, according to their blurb. Not certain it's something I want to do, which is why I was hoping someone else here had tried it first and could comment!

hey did u ever do this?

anyone have a good compare and contrast of the capristo vs. novitec?

I had my valves opened for a few months and it was just too much for a daily driver

Yes, I had the Capristo system installed a couple of months ago. I know what you mean when you say that it's too much for a daily driver. I always drive with the valves closed as with them open the system is too loud for me. The closed valve setting is quieter, but I must admit, sometimes I wish it was quieter still. Even with the valves closed, the Capristo system is a fair bit louder than the OEM, but does boost that fantastic V12 sound and burbles and farts in all the right places. As a daily driver you do find yourself where you wish there was a quiet setting at times! Having said that, I do not regret the change and would not swap back to the OEM system now. My fitter suggested removing the x-pipe and refitting the OEM centre pipe as a way of reducing the decibels, which I have not tried, but may consider at a later date as a comparison. He initially suggested this as when I first installed the system, I found that when crawling along in traffic at very low revs, the system produces a very deep reverberating bass sound that I found too loud. However, after the past couple of months, I've either gotten used to the sound, or the system has somehow bedded in and doesn't seem to be that bad anymore! As soon as you get moving though, it sounds great! Once the storms stop battering us over here, I'll try and make a short video in my iPhone and upload it here as there don't seem to be any YouTube clips of a Capristo system on an FF. There are a couple of the Novitec system, but I can't really offer a comparison between the two.

Just install the capristo switch to open the valves when you want - inexpensive and you don't mess with the oem system - you sell the car later you will be putting the old system back in- I have had to do that on two cars - and you have to store the system when not in car - usually when people buy the car, they want all original

I love the quality of the stock exhaust sound but I find it too quiet for my tastes, regardless of the valve position. The sound is muffled by a very large amount of sound deadening material, as we discovered when we took off the rear hatch interior panel to access the horse when the wrap was being applied. The installer said he had not seen such an amount of insulation. I am installing the Novitec muffler system next week in the hope of getting some more sound into the cabin. We will see. Holy crap. I was leaning towards just leaving the FF stock but the sound from that Novitec video really, really makes me think.

    What a sound.

As indicated in the vid, the system we are listening to has mufflers + X-pipe + high flo cats. I think that just getting the mufflers will get most of the sound benefit while keeping the cost more under control (though still a lot of money). We will see.
