Nah, not daily but every few months. Tweaking our schedule, plus it’s based on seasons. It’s a nice cross country trip, good to see the country. We do it in an S Class - really nice for covering lots of miles.

Both hoses are leaking and need to be replaced. It's a mess under there and so clean on the shiny side.

Manual says 16.9 L of coolant. Guess I'm going to make a mess - this is why I don't like working on coolant systems. Go slow with a 5 gal bucket.

Is Valvoline Zerex G-05 the right coolant? I've also seen BMW coolant is ok. So many threads on the right coolant.

Can you use after market hose, and avoid Ferrari tax.

Don’t think so, the left hose is evidently different sizes on each end. It’s $306, from valve to radiator, and it’s backordered and no NA dealer has one. A dealer is trying to get it from the UK. Might take a week or so. The right side return hose looks more standard and it’s only $4x. I should have that hose and all the clamps tomorrow.

For coolant I used Mercedes brand in my 360C when I had it. Anyone know it that’s ok to use?

It’s done. The hose via the UK was delivered yesterday (part #260080). Pretty easy job for both hoses. Took a few hours, slowest part was carefully draining the coolant so not to make a huge mess. Slightly over 3 gallons came out. I was expecting more. The dynamic process for filling described in the shop manual takes time too as it gets hot.

The drivers side hose was a mess along with the metal fitting. I cleaned it up pretty well. The passenger side hose fittings were fine, just wiped them off. Even clean it was still leaking. Both hoses were swollen and worn.

While in the garage I also changed the oil in our S Class. Done with everything by 1pm.

Afterwards my wife and I went for a nice drive in the countryside. No leaks and all good.

Glad to hear you were able to take care of this yourself. I had a similar issue for a Lusso, plus the water pump was leaking and needed to be replaced. Covered under Power 15.

That’s interesting as my water pump leak was not covered under the old New Power warranty.

    Hey AN0pax!

I’m sorry that ski season is over. I’m happy with the Stockli Laser SCs that I got this spring. I was able to go to Park City a couple of weeks ago and improved my CARV score by 10 points.

Yes, the water pump was covered. The leaking radiator hose was not, but that was relatively inexpensive.

Less than $500 in parts was good too. And most of that was the one hose.
