FF Coupe?

    Car and Driver speculates there will be a coupe version of the FF available around 2016. Anybody hear anything that might confirm or deny? Looks pretty nice from their drawing. Here is one by X-Tomi Design that looks similar.

    Possible repost since I did not go down that far.

    The 4WD system adds complexity and cost, and a bit of weight. It is great for a long distance, all weather tourer with high passenger and cargo capacity, but for pure sports driving I would opt for the F12.

    Question: Why create another front V12 engine coupe with the F12 out? Will it be like a redesigned FF with the 2+2 seating configuration?

    I hope not. I don't want Ferrari turning into Mercedes, who seems to make a different but exactly the same car for each and every model designation they have.

    Also, with Ferrari going to make less cars now I seriously doubt it'll happen anyhow.

    I would very much like them make a TT V6 small entry level car, sub £100k devote of many of the electronic gizmos.

    Good points.

    I could see them fitting the 4RM AWD system to a future variant of the F12 and maybe finding some places to take out weight to keep the total weight about the same.

    I think these cars have so much power now and while I usually prefer RWD, I think this system Ferrari has is very good and cleaver and can give you RWD most of the time anyway.

    + 1. This is where my thinking is as well.

    An AWD "FF Coupe" would translate loosely into an AWD F12.

    c&d article also said ff coupe will be a 2 seater which makes absolutely no sense at all. its just a awd f12. maybe if they kept the 4 seats in the ff coupe it could be little different from f12.

    If it retained the back seat like as a 2+2 it could have a market in a V12 2+2 .. I would think it was very nice... nothing like a 700 hp 2+2

    So, if Ferrari goes through with this, we essentially have a true replacement for the 612 Scaglietti?

    Makes sense to me. Whilst the FF and 612 both have 4 seats, i don't see someone attracted to the 612 having much interest in the FF. It seems the FF is Ferrari's closest approach to an SUV type vehicle; not really a 2+2 coupe, ala 456 or 612.

    I've always viewed the FF as something entirely new from Ferrari, which is not a bad thing. But, Ferrari still needs a 2+2 coupe, imo.

    Saw this blurb in Car and Driver today...

    "[Ferrari is planning] more conventionally styled version of the clown-shoe-shaped FF. It will get a sloping roofline and lose its rear seat, and the front fascia and side air vents will change slightly... The FF has put off customers who liked the classic proportions of previous executive Ferraris. It is easy enough for Team Maranello to rebody the car, and we expect both models to be sold concurrently."

    Power and the AWD system apparently remain the same. They even have a Photoshopped version of it.

    Anyone else heard of this? I can't say I'm surprised, given the FF's sales, but this is the first I'd heard of it.

    All they need to do is redesign the rear. No need to create a new model... I really tried but the current FF rear is just too much to handle, it just isn't pretty. More reason to keep my manual 612...

    No rear redesign of the FF, fitting four adults in the car is part of the idea! You need that shape for four adults. I went for a drive in a Bentley yesterday and rear headroom really sucks bad, FF is far better!

    I would LOVE to see either a 4wd F12 or a coupe FF ... same car?? ... as you could get much more of the power to the ground. Everything I read about the F12 says there is too much power for the available traction, all wheel drive is the perfect solution and it works perfect in the FF.

    I went from a 612 to an FF (albeit via a 599), and saw it as a natural progression. They're very much the same idea IMHO.

    Agree I'd love to see a 4WD F12 although I think current FF system becomes 2WD in anything above 4th gear. If you are going round a bend fast in the wet in a high gear wouldn't it still be nice to have the 4WD?

    I really don't get the ugly backend thing at all, think the ff looks great at the back, the only awkward angle to me is full side on at certain angles looks a bit gawky , the back end has just the right amount of curves, bulk and aggression for me, wouldn't change it at all

    Perhaps they are just misinterpreting some discussion about the eventual FF successor/ evolution model. I'm sure they will change the styling at least a little.

    It'd be interesting to see, if Ferrari offered the 4RM system as an option on the F12, how many buyers might go for it. Especially if it was retooled as an increasingly performance-minded system.

    As I understand it, the 4RM system seems more designed as a foul-weather traction aid than a system designed to improve all-out performance. (I could be very wrong in my interpretation, in which case, I hope someone will correct me.) A version tuned to improve handling and power delivery under hard driving conditions as well as in bad weather seems like it could be pretty tempting for a fair number of F12 buyers...
