SO I have had my FF for a month and done 2000 miles - oops but great fun...

Figured out the car, the TV and the read screen DVD system with a few trips to the dealer for help.

    BUT two questions remain....

Can you upload your phonebook once your iPhone is on Bluetooth? It plays music ok, cant get playlists but dialling numbers while driving - really?

Second - driving along yesterday, track route was off, and a yellow route appears next to the green route of the satnav - wtf is that?

    Any help would be great...

Ask your dealer for the NAV user manual .......... Oh, forgot to mention THERE ISN'T ONE!

That has been maybe the only thing that has pixxed me off about the car. The sat nav is actually really powerful but you have to guess your way through much of it, very irritating.

The yellow path is where traffic is backed up. I learned that the hard way. The nav told me to turn off an expressway 5 miles before I knew I should, on I-94 east headed to US 23 south. I ignored it even though I saw some yellow on the nav ahead. 1/2 mile further I-94 became a parking lot. Ignoring the nav cost me 45 minutes.

I really like the Favorites thing in the radio. It remembers songs or artists and prompts you when one comes on the SAT. The radio can also be rewound when something you like comes on and you want to play it over and over. Pretty cool, although my daughter's Fiat 500L has the same features :D

I looked everywhere for the nav manual but also gave up, deciding that I would just stop by the salesroom where I bought my FF to ask for help. Since it is 1 1/2 blocks away it is no big deal.

Go ahead and stop at your dealer. As I said there is no nav manual for the FF! I got one with both of my California's, but there is none for the FF. Although I have not looked online lately to see if that has changed.

I pretty much ignore installed car navigation systems -- and if they're an option, I see no need to buy them. My solution is a piece of velcro somewhere on the dash and the Waze app on my phone. Better than any installed nav system I've ever seen -- and the element of peer driver reporting is indispensable.

My Cali has the standard infotainment system. My FF has the upgraded system. They are made by the same company and look similar until you turn them on. The Cali is an early 2012 made in late 2011. The FF is a late 2012, purchased new in late 2012 so there may be differences that are not due to the upgrade. When it comes to navigation I think they are the same. Music, the upgraded system has the ability to remember your favorite artists or songs. Pretty cool. It will also rewind a song that is currently playing. And it plays music through Bluetooth from my stupid iPhone. I like that ability even though I hate the stupid Apple operating system and stupid iTunes and the player on the stupid iPhone :D. Of course you can load things to the hard drive too and play from there. I have a photo of my daughter when she was very young on the desktop.

I also really like the storage/rewind feature.

Every one of these nav or advanced sound systems is different in the various cars and models. There is no standardization of course. I wish there were.

Have sold my FF, I also have a top spec'd 5 series bmw. As much as I liked the FF's engine & sound, it really riled me the creature comforts inside are so far behind. Getting in the Bmer, nav & Bang & olufsen Hifi, very comfortable seats moving in every direction, heads up display etc etc the list goes on and on. Came to the conclusion that I would rather have a car that felt as nice to be inside as the bmer but with a bit more poke, so ordered an M5 30 Jahre version with 600 hp & the ceramic brakes & akrapovic exhaust etc, sold the FF on.
I know the M5 wont be a Ferrari, but boy am I glad to see the back of the infotainment system, its an embarrasment & very frustrating. To be honest never bothered me in the 458 as that was a more 'sporty' car, so I was more accepting of such things for that type of car, but in a car that's billed as the best/great grand tourer and that costs so much , it is not acceptable to have cheap , years out of date creature comforts. Just glad bmw has pushed the M5 up a bit performance wise.
The apple play thing doesn't look much better really either, really wish Ferrari would team up with B&O or Levinson or someone & get that whole side sorted. An FF should be bang up to date cutting edge luxury on the inside too

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions but by complete chance I called a cab in Bristol and a Chrysler 300c turned up - 59 plate 130k miles and the SAME sat nav virtually as the FF!

I had a virtuoso demo on my £10 taxi fare - plus tip of course but he didn't mention you could rewind the radio - suppose you can do that for TV - will need to investigate!

The only way he reckons to get numbers into the system was via voice recognition interface -not worth it he said!

Yep. It is not for everyone. And it is certainly true that the high tech add-ons are absent in the small production volumes of a car like the FF.

Best of luck with the M5. If I didn't get the FF I would have gotten an M5 in their beautiful orange Sakhir.

I came from a 612 with the Becker entertainment system. I thought the FF unit was super high tech in comparison!

I'll have to try that! :D I already do something like that most Saturday's and Sundays when Formula One is on TV, I play the sound from last year's race while watching this year's race so I can hear REAL F1 engines, not the crap that we hear from todays F1/2 racing. They are hybrids after all, saving the earth and sounding little better than a Prius.

Cheers Noblesse ... I am a real ferrari fan that v12 in the ff was probably the best engine I have ever enjoyed, just lifting the bonnet and looking at it was a pleasure.
I really cannot agree about the low volume thing though, that is no excuse, Aston Martin partnered with bang & Olufsen.
I find it odd because on such a high profile brand like ferrari I would of thought companies would of been falling over themselves to provide infotainment solutions , I mean what a halo brand to spin off. Also the fact now that this stuff is basically a lot of software surely means that there is no excuse for being a little more 'modern' as it were, it's like ferrari isn't bothered. And to make it worse they have the nerve to spin it all In their brochures about how good an state of the art the infotainment stuff is??.. What's that about
Imagine a ferrari ff with all the goodies of say the new merc s class inside , that would be so so cool and ferrari should be aiming the ff interior a lot higher IMHO ... I would so love to see that

From what I saw the FF info system is very close to the one in European Prius... will try to find a link on Toyota website or a PDF to post here ;-)

I think hell will freeze over before I own a Prius.

A little Velcro won't hurt a big, strong Ferrari. In fact it reminds me being on the track. The most fun cars I've ever been in often looked like they were held together with spit and tissue paper...

    No nav of any kind:

Thats an awesome picture. Thank you for sharing.

I find Waze annoying though- too much barking at me. I would like to tell it "shut up and let me drive!" LOL.

I prefer the built in nav for a luxury car. I don't want to be messing with my phone.

Stop by your Chrysler dealer. One of the sales people will show you how to use it. Better yet, just ask for the Manuel from a minivan

Exactly my issue, I am sorry but keep cheap nav should not appear in a ferrari, really it's pretty bad. Most people who purchase grand tourers are really looking for a great interior with Upto date cutting edge appointments, not aged , dated cheap rubbish... If ferrari cannot see that then it's pretty blinkered
Now if only I could shoe horn the ff's v12 into my bmw m5 I would have the perfect car inside and out for me !
