My FF has had an intermittent engine system failure light over the last four months or so that would report a right bank lean or rich when downloaded. I finally had time to let it sit at the dealer. After a bunch of troubleshooting it turns out to be some oil in the right intake, in the throttle body and in the intake tubes. Cleaned well by the dealer and all is well, even idles smoother and at a slightly higher rpm. Ferrari says it was probably due to overfilling the oil but I've never added oil unless 1.5 quarts low then only add enough to get it in the half full mark. Hopefully picking the car up this week after Esoteric Auto Detail does a tidy up of the 2 year old paint (and 43,000 miles :)) and puts the new Gyeon coating on the car.

Glad all is well. You must miss your FF terribly!? I find it difficult to manage when they take mine away for a day to service! Look forward to pics of your revitalised paintwork:)

Hmm. As you know checking the oil level is very tricky on the FF. The oil tank sits high, above much of the engine, so the protocol is designed to fill the tank to the point where a measurement with the dipstick is meaningful. It is possible that even obeying the protocol to the letter gave you a falsely low reading, resulting in a mild overfill and spraying some oil around the system. If that is the case you will be fine from now on. Otherwise it could happen again :(

PS I chatted with the technician who generally services my cars. He said that the FF can run 3 liters down and still be fine.
