I turn off my FF, after seconds or minutes I hear a fan come on and if I'm inside, I feel air coming out of the vents. Why is it for, and It certainly must drain the battery Thanks in advance
My V8s also run their fan after they are off. Engines actually get hotter when they are first turned off. The fans dissipate a lot of excess heat. Just put on battery tender.
Well ... let's see ... it the engine really hot? Is it hot outside? Where us your temp gauge? (how do people survive in the world, never mind afford a ferrari) You don't need to worry about the battery, unless you drive the car 2x a week or less I would do it after maybe 4 days.
Actually, I think the OP might be referring to something other than the engine coolant/radiator fans in this instance. We often end up sitting inside our car waiting for a ferry in other than warm weather. Often in really cold weather (sub 30s). When we stop the car and just sit there, we can hear all sorts of things happening inside the dash, not coming from the engine compartment. It sounds like pneumatic controls opening and closing vent doors, and indeed, a fan is heard to be running: the internal air circulation fan. Air is gently wafting out of the vents. Its like the cars computers are adjusting things in there somewhere. It sounds quite busy at times. This seems to go on for several minutes. Then it makes a louder little noise and shuts it all off. I mentioned this once to our mechanic, and he laughed and said it was normal and I can't remember what else. Wasn't important. Either to him or me. I'm sure if you're really curious, you could ask your mechanic to explain it. Or just marvel at the little gremlins being controlled to do your bidding while your car recuperates after a jaunt. Yes, this does seem like it must hit the battery a bit. But we also leave our car sitting for a couple weeks at a time and have seen no adverse effects. If I know I'm not going to drive the beast for a few weeks, I'll hook up to the tender.
