I have a 2014 with 29k miles. Just into second year of ownership. And, yes, when debating 3 years ago whether to get one - idiot. Should have got it right away. Love this car!

Last summer, in hot weather and sitting at lights, etc., the temp gauge would pass 210F and dance up to ~ 225F. Never passed 225F. Not near red zone for sure, but higher than a car should be from other F car experiences. Once I got going, all was good and back to the 175F area. Didn’t happen at all stops. A helpful post from F chatter suggested adding a little water/coolant. So, I added a little over a quart of 50/50 water & coolant. All good after that.

It is doing it again in hot weather this summer, so I just added some this evening and will see if it does the trick again.

I know these cars run hot, there is no evidence of coolant leak anywhere. Others run into this?

It’s getting its annual service next month, and I may have them go ahead and do a full coolant service as well. Records do not show any being done before.

As a general rule of thumb on any car, let alone a high performance vehicle, coolant should be changed every three years just as brake fluid should be changed every two years.

if you’re two years into ownership and there’s no record of the coolant being changed then you might as well have it done.

My F12 occasionally has a bit of indigestion in extreme hot wether and can spit out a bit of coolant, This has happened twice in very hot weather immediately after the car was parked up. I suspect it is a heat spot causing the car to 'burp'. 1st instance was 4.5 litres, 2nd was only 1 litre.

That seems like rather a lot of coolant to lose through the overflow. Was this after a particularly spirited drive/high speed cruising or did you allow a cool down?

I was about to comment the same thing. It seems absurd to me that 4.5liters of coolant would overflow... Maybe the relief valve got stuck open or something.

1 liter is too much to lose period .. something is not right .. I would start with a new coolant cap ( n=kow to not hold pressure)
Also get a pressure tester and test the whole system

I do drive it hard. The 4.5 litres was after 3 hours driving at 90mph+ in 45C heat followed immediately by about 30mins driving very slowly in 43C heat and then parking on a slope (nose down) with no cool down possible due to the ambient temp. The 1 litre was after 6 hours in 28C heat with very high humidity and then doing an oil level check. At both times the temps when moving were fine, but when moving slow they were very high and then once stopped/stationary all the fans were running.
Do bear in mind that these things take over 24 litres of coolant so 4 litres is not that much for a big blow back.
It's been at the dealer since on both occasions and there are not split hoses and the overflow is clearly from the reservoir overflow. The conclusion is just heat sinks causing blow-back. If anything changes I will update.
