$300k Ferrari run over by delivery truck backing up

A Ferrari is crushed by a truck on Oct. 30, 2013 in New York City.

    By Emily Christensen-Flowers, NBC News
If you think you had a bad day at the office, check out the misfortune of one delivery truck driver who accidentally backed into a $300,000 Ferrari FF on Columbus Avenue in New York City on Oct. 30. The driver of the Baldor Foods, Inc. truck told bystanders he “didn’t see nothing” as he put the truck in reverse, crushing the hood of the extremely streamlined FF model. Fortunately, nobody appeared to be hurt physically. And, in case you were wondering who was behind the wheel of the Ferrari, it wasn’t the owner, but a paid driver. Hopefully both gentlemen can smooth things over with their bosses.

I did this once when a teenager. I was moving Uhaul trucks around a parking lot at work. As I was backing up a couple cars pulled into the lot right behind me so I had to hit the brakes. I checked the mirrors and all was clear so I continued to back up. An additional car that I did not see pull into the lot parked directly behind me.

In the end our insurance company told them tough luck as they parked behind a vehicle that was in reverse and in the process of backing up.

Tragic. Probably scared the hell out of the occupants.

Truck driver was only trying to improve the styling...only he seems to have hit the wrong end for that.

Sorry guys.... FF stands for Freakin Fantastic.
This car looks awesome in the flesh. And, that's probably the best color for it.

In any event, I'm sure the owner isn't too happy today. Not much need to pile on. It could have easily have been you.

Depends whether you're behind the wheel or viewing from outside. By all accounts, it's scarily amazing. One fchatter told me he has to really watch it as he'll come off a ramp feeling like he's doing 60, look down and he's over 100. Another told me the thing grips better in the rain than RWD in severe clear. It's a car that can get you in trouble quickly. Anyone who's sat in one knows the level of comfort, luxury and style we're talking about. Freakin' Fantastic, sure. But for those of us watching from the sidelines, still less than beautiful. Doesn't matter what we think though. I'm sure the owner of this car is quite unhappy. Condolences, if here to read this.

It's a cool color but too much like Asphalt Gray. That's an excuse for "not seeing nothing." But even with Rosso Corsa, being low to the ground is also hard to see. I keep thinking a radio controlled car atenna with a flag on top is the best way to get noticed. Silly but effective.

Hey, give the guy a break. The Ferrari driver was doing his best to back up, but he got busy reading the owners manual in order to figure out how to get the transmission to shift into reverse. By the time he got to step seven, it was too late.

Maybe he couldn't find the horn. One time I needed the horn on my 456 really quickly (the other driver was not looking) so I instantly hit the center of the wheel. The horn is not there. The dude hit my once cherry 456.

That was the first thing both my wife and I thought when looking at the picture. Drat. And, wow, that car is the same color as the road. Still no excuse for the truck driver to back over it.

Happily it looks like there were no injuries except to pride.
