Love the sound of a modified exhaust system, has anybody voided their warranty by installing downpipes, x-pipe, exhaust, sport cats, etc.... Did your car throw a CEL? Did you have to tune your car as well? I have a Lusso and worry about the PTU unit going out.
Many, many people have installed after market exhaust to their V12s. The car will throw a CEL if you remove the CAT, and on most install with 100 cell CATs. You dont have to tune the car but it's nice to do if you changed the CATs. It will not throw a CEL if you keep the original CATs. Regarding warranty, you will see that people said their dealership accepted to keep the car under warranty after an exhaust swap, others said their dealership denied it. In all cases if you change/remove the CATs the car should not be covered by the warranty anymore, as it is then illegal to drive in most countries as the emission control system has been tampered with.
thank you, next question is there a dealership in LA who is a little more lenient with an exhaust swap? lol.....
You need something along these lines https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/M18x1-5-O2-Oxygen-Sensor-Extender_1600722868345.html?s=p https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Oxygen-Sensor-Spacer-Universal-Auto-Mini_62070070100.html?s=p https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/90-Degree-Angled-Oil-Pressure-Sensor_1600342043188.html Amazon and Ebay keep getting reported so they take down the ads pretty quick Image Unavailable, Please Login It will cut down your CEL by 50% or so, not a 100% perfect solution, but it works for the most part
Almost correct - 100-cell catalysts will cause CEL. 200-cell shouldn't cause CEL immediately but over time cats become less efficient so may throw a CEL eventually. 250-cell should be enough to ward off CELs permanently. Most people will install an OBD unit (Capristo OBD Wizard for non-GPF cars, Novitec Tectronic for GPF cars) to turn off CEL rather than tuning the car. As for warranty, these companies would be out of business if every time they installed a part they immediately and totally invalidated warranty on a $250k+ car. Make of that what you will.
I also would strongly recommend against installing anything from Alibaba on your Ferrari. Buy a purpose built part from a renowned manufacturer with product liability insurance.
Here are some non alibaba links for a similar product, they all do the same thing, its a mini cat that helps provide an altered reading which is acceptable to the factory o2 sensor https://prosportgauges.com/products/mini-cat-o2-sensor-cel-fix-90a http://www.bigdaddiesgarage.com/mini-cat-cel-fix.html https://sptuningllc.com/prosport-mini-cat-o2-sensor-cel-fix-straight/ https://www.summitracing.com/search/product-line/innovate-o2-bung-adapters/part-type/weld-in-bungs-nuts-and-fittings?fr=part-type https://www.ttstuff.com/T1PE/42D-EX-99-200.html I prefer to run no-cats
Remove the cats you'll get a CEL without a tune. Other vehicles I know there were o2 simulators you could use to try and trick the ECU not sure how that works on Ferrari ECU. With that said, on my F12 there's no cat and no CEL since I flashed the ECU and let that V12 sing (with some extra power to boot). YOLO.
Kline cat back system on mine and it makes the car. 200 cell cars threw a code but O2 sensor spacers fixed that. Night and day sound. After a few miles I knew it had to be switched. No warranty issues. Had my PTU replaced after and the dealer even put the spacers in for me after the exhaust was installed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
