i think in most years you wont spend the full 5k but if something crazy happens thats prob a good number.
If you're giving away the original FF wheels, I'll be happy to take them. I just got an FF and wouldn't mind some extra wheels for snow tires!
Any idea how the brakes are wearing? Over in this thread, its looking like a min $20k+ brake job was needed at 40k miles. I'm wondering if that's typical or is excessive wear.
my service manager at my dealer said they've never had to replace ceramic brakes since has been there and that has been several years. he said he cant see having to replace the rotors but the pads are about 1500 a set. not bad
Those rotors should last a very very long time if you are using them in street situations. If you are taking the car to the track often, you will go through pads and rotors fairly quickly.
The oem ones bend easily and nyc metro area has terrible roads and potholes. Then i realized how much more my silver calipers pop with silver wheels rather than the dark anodized wheels so switched to f12 wheels and then finally to current lusso wheels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The forged wheel should be slightly stronger than the cast ones, but certainly not enough to withstand those NYC potholes. Probably need a set of custom made steel wheels for that. Most modern cars' rear rotors have less life than the front ones due to ESP eating up the rear rotors to keep us out of trouble, unless one drives with feather foot. I wonder when do those seat covers that come with the car car ever get used.
Forged are a lot stronger than the cast, but will still be susceptible to NYC roads. Although not a Ferrari, I can tell you with my prior BMW with cast wheels I would go through at least 2 wheels a year. Once they offered forged wheels, I went to those and in nearly 3 years I have gone through 1 wheel. I d0n't think Ferraris control program will use the rear brakes very often in an FF or GTC4- it will use them more on cars with Race mode. But you would have to be really pushing the car, and thus, you would likely also be getting hard on the fronts as well.
Most rear rotors show more wear when hooked up to the computer. OF course, that is just an estimate and removing and weighing them is more accurate. Visually, I noticed most cars' rear rotors to be more dull compared to the front rotors...I think that means they are being used more.
Really appreciate this thread. Perplexing about letting my lusso go as my pista is arriving soon. This gives me more confidence to drive the lusso more on daily basis
