Hey - I am new to the FF group here (usually tinkering around with my 360) but I am looking at FFs as a second fcar (hauling the kids around) and curious what people have experienced with respect to the panoramic roof.

I am 6'3" so I have read that it gives a little more headroom (my 360 is a spider with manual seats which is great). I am curious as to whether the pano roof gives extra headroom or not?

In addition to headroom, I am curious if anyone thinks it makes a difference on the temps inside the car. I live in the Midwest and it can be extremely hot here.

I am planning to get a black one, so I am not worried about the strip behind the glass that only comes in black.

Thanks for any opinions! I looked through the threads here discussing this topic but they were all pretty old, so curious if there's any newer thoughts on this. I guess worst case if I bought one with the pano roof and I hated it, I could get it tinted really dark.

Pano roof give you extra head room for sure. I'm 6'1" and could adjust the seat so my feet couldn't even touch the pedals. You'll be fine!

I don't think the pano roof will significantly increase the temp in the car when it is parked. Whatever increase will be completely negated by the a/c and more importantly the view your kids will have in the rear seats. ;)

From experience I can definitely recommend the panoramic roof.
It gives a much more spacious feeling. In addition, the interior is a lot lighter, especially for the rear passengers.
You don't have to worry about a warm interior, because the air conditioning is up to the task.
If the car has been in the sun for a long time, the interior can be brought back to a pleasant temperature in no time.
Finally, it will be beneficial for the value development of the car.
    Just do it!!

The FF is built for big units. I have a friend who is taller than you (6’5” and 240lbs) and he fits very comfortably in my non-pano roof FF.

I have a tinted glass pano roof on my truck and I can tell you it most certainly increases the temps in the car when parked in the sun. I almost always leave the shade closed on it to keep it a tad cooler. The ff doesn't have a shade as far as I know. Since I live where its very sunny the pano roof was an option I didn't want.

Also I'm 6'6" and fit in the car just fine without a pano roof!

Your truck has a FF pano roof? :D

If internal heat is an issue when the car is parked, there are small covers that just cover the top half of the car. The windshield, rear window and side windows are covered and those windows let in far more sunlight than the pano roof. Not to mention the destructive UV rays that destroy the leather dash and rear deck leather. :(

I have one which I use for either my FF or my 612 (I'll take a pic and post it when I have a chance). The 612 doesn't have a pano roof, it is an electrochromic roof that has 3 settings from clear to mid-shade to full shade. Unless I have rear seat passengers, it is always in full shade mode.

6'-4" plenty of room! Pano roof a must, very open and airy feel especially the rear. No problems with heat.

thanks for the replies. I have found two cars with pano roofs, will buy one of them if they are still around in 6 months when my garage is done. If not, will continue until I find something.

Here's the half cover I use. Typically I use it when we are away from home and I'm parking the car in the sun. The cover folds up into a small cylindrical bag.

The pano roof is very heavily tinted. It's obvious when you look through it on a sunny day, much much more tinted than the windows. It doesnt add any significant heat in my opinion. But you will want a windshield sunshade if you live in a very sunny area. This will decrease the internal temperature by a lot, and will also protect the life of your leather dash.

I'm not tall, so no extra headroom needed but I love my pano roof. I think for a $17,000 option when new, you can't go wrong with finding an FF with it and not paying that much more. It's a great option, albeit mainly for the rear passengers as the front seats would need to look straight up to enjoy it.

Just drove my FF to car week and hauled another couple to Quail. They loved the pano roof, I would ensure your FF has it!
