I'm thinking about my next F car purchase. Have three (3) now, but another always beckons...... My performance Ferrari is now a 575 with FHP. my "performance overall" car is a one-off 500 HP car weighing 2,650 pounds, and which CAR & DRIVER has tested at 0.98g on the skidpad, with a 0-60 of 3.3 seconds. Here's my thinking: 1) I am wondering about a 599, an F12, or an FF. 1a) I understand the 2+2 Ferrari, since I own and drive two 456's 2) The 599 calls to me with more modern tech than the 575, and improved power and performance. Priced are dropping fast, and nicer well - equipped cars are becoming much more reasonable. 3) I would of course prefer the F12 over the 599, but price and eventual depreciation are questions. 4) The FF - once you have solved the appearance questions - has huge performance for the money, and prices seem to be more approachable almost by the day. A 4WD Ferrari is interesting........plus I love the idea of a 208 mph SUV. so: A) Where are 599 prices headed (and when) ? B) Where are FF prices headed (and when) ? C) FF maintainance questions ? D) When, if ever, will the same-year FF sell for less that the same-year 599 ? E) Does NOVITEC make a roof-rack for the FF ? Cheers, Scott
All speculations about future prices are ... speculations. But you can enjoy them, while understanding that it is hazardous to make decisions based on them.
I do not know for sure but I don't think there was effectively any time 599 & FF production coincided so your question (D) does not have any answer - all 599s will be older than any FF
I get what you mean. Personally I do think late model 599's will be level with FF's in a number of years (5-7 years), simply for the reason that the FF is in less demand than the 599. Personally I absolutely love the FF, but do think the FF market will level with 599s in the end, like all 2+2 Ferrari's have.
Get what you want. Test drive the cars and make a decision. IMHO there is a lot more depreciation in the FF than the 599 right now. I think the 599s are though the majority of their depreciation.
An FF is not a substitute for an SUV. Ignoring size, the car doesn't have the clearance nor the sidewalls you would want an SUV for. Sure it is indeed a substitute for an Audi sedan or Panorama if you prefer a 2+2. While I am biased, the F12 is really amazing. It is practical for a 2 seater, looks great while a little lower key than most super cars, sounds great (especially if you disable the exhaust valve) and can be scary fast. While depreciation is inevitable with all current cars, I wonder if the F12 will fare better than the average 12 cylinder. It is that good.
It would be easier to answer the question if it was what about you wanted out of the car and if the current prices justify it. If you are buying a car just because of the future price direction, than you will most sell as soon as the prices start to accelerate down.
I have F12 and will get the FF in 2 weeks,I haven't driven a FF so I will have to wait to now which one is better etc..
I am certainly open to guidance on the subject. The FF seems to offer a high level of performance, with the advantage of a 2+2, a 4wd, and a hatchback. I have NO need of an SUV, but i like the IDEA that I can TELL folks I have a 208 mph SUV, and that Ferrari made it for me !
I have had a number of modern F-cars - including a 599GTB for the last 3 years. I love the FF - it is very comfortable and practical, but at the same time offers performance that makes the 599 seem slow. I use it as a daily driver, and have tried (with modest success) to get my wife to do the same... Twin FFs. I have a Cali T on deposit, so one of these will need to go before long (it has been a lot of fun in the mean time!) Can't recommend the car highly enough. (and I hated the way the car looked initially - much better in person). If anyone has an interest in the wife's car - please PM me. (I'm keeping mine long term though!) A) lower. B) A lot lower. c) haven't heard of much and they have all maint included for 7 years. And you can always get the power warranty to cover your bases. D) NA. I believe the last 599's were 2011 and the first FF were 2012 in the US. E) Google? BTW - Beautiful 575 you got! Finally, perhaps an attempt to answer your question. There are some very nice 2008 599's asking around $160k (Cam has a nice one at CNC) and that is a ton of performance and way beyond 575...lot of performance for that price level...
Thank you for the appreciated compliment on my 2002 575M in TDF blue with tan, FHP, F1 shifter and the preferred 19 inch Ferrari wheels. I bought this from another Ferrari Chat member, and have been very pleased with everything. Certainly a 599 would be a BIG step up from a 575, but it is also a bigger car. Right now, this is the available 599 I like best: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/434810-599-159-800-a.html
