    Hey All

My FF will need some new rear pads soon, I'm told they are 70% worn. This got me thinking that there may be another manufacturer that uses the same Brembo set up, and therefore the same pads. I'm being quoted £1000 for the pads alone, which I suspect includes the Ferrari "Box tax".

Does anyone know if any others will fit? I'm thinking Audi, Porsche, Corvette etc. After all, they are 'just" standard Brembo carbon rear brakes...

Just though i'd put it our there before I fork out the money. I won't let them run much lower as i don't want to risk disc damage. The fronts are Ok still but I know the fancy stability systems use the rear brakes a lot more, hence the wear.

£1K seems quite reasonable for carbon ceramic brake pads.

There’s a 599 thread running over on PH started by user ‘cake eater’. A number of alternative pads were suggested to him by his Indy and he went with an aftermarket set. While the brake feel is improved, he’s noted that they create more dust. The thing which surprised me is how cheap the pads are compared to the OE set (less than half the price).

“I had a search on the internet for pads as I have never been happy with the standard pad feel. A chat with Leo at Madeno Racing http://www.madenoracing.com/recommended both Endless and the GTO spec ARBs. After at chat with Mel at R53 engineering http://www.r53engineering.com/ she recommended two pads and I chose the more road oriented pad MX72

    "MX72 - €352 (EIP184) / €545 (EIP185)

MX72 is the ultimate street ceramic-carbon-metallic compound developed for extreme speeds and power. MX72 is developed with lots of technology and effort in it to cope with the demands of an extreme street compound. It is suited for use in a power brake system with or without ABS and EPS. The MX72 is a high heat resistance compound which can also be used for circuit racing, like a sports car club race day, so there is no need to change pads for such an event. The initial

bite and response is excellent even at very high speed like 250-300 km/h and so also the pedal feel and brake balance.

    Friction: 0,37-0,47?

    Heat levels: 50-700°C"

I’m sure you’ve already done this, but when my FF’s rear pads needed to be changed, I priced up a set from Scuderia and Eurospares.

Eurospares are charging £672+VAT and Scuderia are at £740+VAT.

Mine were supplied and fitted by Ferrari for the equivalent of £1150 all in so I suspect you should have some wiggle room on the price.
