Went out for a blast tonight, dry roads in the UK which is quite novel currently!
Anyway noticed two things, firstly when u brake pretty hard the hazard lights come on, well as I am in the car I should say both indicator indicators come on as in when u press the hazard switch. I presume this is a safety feature rather than a fault?,anyone else notice it?
Secondly as nice a sound as the car makes I am slightly disappointed that pressing 'sport' doesn't actually make any difference in noise levels , I switched between comfort, wet, sport ...windows down ,various revs and the sound was the same. As an ex 458 owner it was great getting into race mode for that little extra noise, and even in a Maserati gts I had pressing sport made a big difference to the noise
Again I presume that this is correct ie mot a fault with my car, that matteno settings in the ff have no effect on sound?
it is a lovely sound anyway, in fact overall really getting on with the ff love it!

Hazard light can be on or off in the setting. I suggest to read manual.

I also have a 458 and became used to the more aggressive valve operation in Race mode. My '14 FF also shows essentially no difference in exhaust sound/valve operation in the Comfort and Sport modes. This is evidently due to different valve management software in the FF vs. the 458. In my own case my encroaching hearing problem combined with the large amount of sound insulation in the body of the FF made the car a little too "refined" for my taste, although the purr of the V12 is marvelously seductive. So last week I took the step of replacing the mufflers with the Novitec system, and the result is simply wonderful. The valve operation software works the same of course, but now when the valves open, there is an aggressive growl that is very audible in the cabin. To me it is now just perfect. I can still tool down the road at high cruising speeds in relative quiet, but a touch of the accelerator will bring on that wonderful assertive V12 growl. I hate to say it but this was worth the $6K; it makes that much of a difference. Unfortunately the GoPro is not working so no video is available yet, Even so the video would not convey the real impression.

As you well know, the FF is a completely different animal than the 458, much more refined but with a real bite. Getting the exhaust sound to be more aggressive keeps that refinement most of the time but brings out the "animal" when you want it.

Yes. I have it on my 458 and it works great. My "problem" in the FF is that the stock exhaust sound is just not aggressive enough for my tastes with the valves closed or open. Others are perfectly happy with it I'm sure. At this point I am thinking about adding the Capristo so as to be able to run with valves open all the time with the Novitec.

Point taken on reading the manual, to be honest I 'skip' read it and never picked up on the abs/hazard bit at all. Report reads...D- must try harder. I actually keep the electronic version of the handbook in my iphone books, means I can leave the manual at home, as it doesn't fit in the glovebox anyway!
Sound wise, really do thing Ferrari have missed a trick here. Surely the thing to do would of been to add a little more volume/pops & bangs on downshift etc when selecting sport mode..seems odd they haven't done that, first car I have had in ages that hasn't got a 'louder' button as it were
Yes I love the purring V12, but some form of option to make it bite more at the times I would like it too seems part of the the Ferrari way of life
Will give it a few thousand miles to let it settle in then may well look at Capristo or Novitec to liven it up a little, I would still want the quieter mode as well though
Still waiting to hear FFMac's exhaust when the weather allows & yes please Mr Noblesse if you could indeed oblige ( see what I did there? ) with some footage of yours that would be great
    thanks

I know what you mean re sound, however where I live there are some superb tree and banked roads that deflect the sound straight back to the car - the sound is just amazing !!

re the brakes, Im usually too busy focusing on the road ahead to notice hazards coming on!

From page 167 of the owner's manual:
    “ Auto Hazard” function
The “Auto Hazard” function automatically switches on the hazard warning lights in the event of sharp braking. To activate or deactivate the function, call up the MENU screen page, select the items “Car setup”, “Auto Hazard” and select either “ON” or “OFF”.

    I have mine off

I am told that earlier FFs did have more sound difference between Manettino settings. See for example this video on a Novitec exhaust and note the Manettino control effect. This does not happen on the 2014s. They must have changed the software.

Am working on the video. Am not a talent in this arena. :(

As for Ferrari making a mistake here, they may have reasoned that FF customers would go for a completely refined environment so let's not make the exhaust too intrusive. Anyone who wants more noise can go out and buy some -- that's us.

Thanks nb... Sounds pretty good in that video
Still think ferrari made a mistake as the loud or not should be made switchAble so as to give the owner the choice, this is the usual way with fcars , maseratis and even Porsches ..., I cannot recall ever owning a car with a ' sports' button that doesn't change engine sound !!

    I can't disagree.

Here's more evidence of deliberate sound suppression. Upon taking off interior panels to access exterior trim to remove during the application of paint protection film, the installer remarked that he had never seen that much sound insulation material, "even the Bentley has less."

Anyway I didn't notice much difference in the sound of the stock exhaust with valves open and closed. That may have been partially due to my hearing loss, but with the Novi it is much different -- big time.
