Well, it took close to two years of ownership to eventually get around to doing this. I tried a year or so ago, but the stereo install shop ran into a problem with a stripped out bolt on the glove compartment box. That required me to have to set up a whole different appointment with my mechanic to get that fixed, etc. etc.

I am pretty sure this Alpine unit is the only one that fits into the OEM space that includes having Apple CarPlay. When I tried two years ago, the only units available had have the phone be plugged in for our CarPlay to work. This particular unit does not require that as it is wireless CarPlay.

This is the Alpine iXL-507 with 7 inch screen. The unit and installation cost $2400. And yes, the buttons on the back of the steering wheel still function as designed.

it looks and sounds great. Nice to have that CarPlay screen staring me in the face again.

Looks great! Was there any reason other then apple car play that made you want to change the face?

Having that wireless was the biggest reason. Also, the OEM unit was starting to have bluetooth sink issues (it is a junk unit). So, the new unit also sounds better as well.

@Scout123 I have a question, so you use the High Level input on your Amplifier or you use some converter which can switch to low level input on your Amp ?
because as I understand, if we use High level input, the Sound already amplifier then we amplifier it again, and it will make the sound Distort or Flat

There are also a bunch of wired to wireless adapters you can plug on the USB plug of your infotainment system (and possibly in the dash so you dont have anything visible in the interior) and that work pretty well.
