Exactly, that's more than just leaking. It'll be too risky to drive that for long.

I follow the shop Royal Autowerks on Facebook (they are out of Overland Park, KS) and I know the owner just finished rebuilding and documenting his teardown and prove-out of the Getrag 7DCL750, which is the DCT used in almost all the Ferraris since the 458.

Jason (the owner) appears to the the expert on this transmission now after rebuilding his own FF from a flood car, including the transmission. This apparently included the SAP boards, the CCP board, clutches, etc. Full R&R.

I'd suggest reaching out to them with any inquiries. They have been known to consult others on the forum for exotic car repairs, etc...

Does the seal push out? What is the permanent repair or this issue will return depending on wear?

So those of us in hotter climates should expect higher rates of failure?

I will say, it was a massive relief to sign that $0.00 invoice. Buying CPO with warranty has saved me the cost of a brand new Camry. Nearly an Avalon.

Oh and it was the same seal that went:

I paid near $14K to have this gearbox replaced in NY. The Ferrari dealer I purchased my car from in AZ was not helpful with warranty 6-8 months after I had purchased the car. Buy the warranty

    1. All ferraris use same gearbox DCT from manufactur "Getrac" Model: 7DCL750
But ferrari dealer and publics don't tell this information to customers, they trying to Keep buyers blind and donkey. To prevent users from ordering parts separately for this box. And we went to the dealer and bought the whole box complete with installation for $49,999. As they say, nothing personal, just business.

    2. This same gearbox was installed on Mercedes amg GT-s, and there is common problem with leaking seal from this cardan shaft seal. But on ferraris it's not common problem, it can be happens if: gearbox was rebuilded, for some reason you put overlevel of oil in DCT. Due of rare using of car, seal is dried up!

    3. DCT Getrack 7DCL750 is include the rear reducer inside, but this two systems is isolated and contain different oils, and it's Transmits torque with a small shaft inside, it's connected through same sealing ring. This system is not reliable LIKE ZF/PDK gearbox on bmw or porsche.

    4. If you seeing oil leak on cover - you cannot drive this car, you will destroy your DCT. Get recovery to workshop.

I found a recall of a factory defect in 2015 (attached PDF) from a Mercedes dealer, on all amg gt models before 2015, and this oil seal is the problem, GETRAG KACO 900.9.0481.60
So I hope ferraris after 2015 is don't have this problem.

Thanks for the photos, Sid. They’re really helpful.

Are you replacing the speed and temperature sensors while the gearbox is split? If not, you might consider doing so.

Already replaced both at the dealer, it seems once they took the transmission around 2 months later it started to leak. 2 possible reasons could be that they damaged it when reassembly or because its old and brittle it got jiggled around and broke when they reassembled. Regardless they didnt cover it under warranty but instead gave me a heavily discounted rate on labor and parts(still almost 8k usd) to fix. They replace the whole plate as thats Ferrari protocol. The deal is good when you consider the parts and labor cost. the labor at my inde is actally more expensive then the dealer but the dealer have to replace the plate which cost 4500 USD just in parts.

My view is to find a good inde shop (which I already have) that I can provide parts and just pay labor. From the links I posted you can see the cost is almost nothing for the seals compared to a whole new plate. I should come out at almost half the cost compared to the dealer.
