I drove an FF the other day and when I pushed the turn signal buttons, all it would ever do is flash 3 times. It didn't matter how long I held it in, if I pushed it twice, etc. It *always* flashed 3 times and then stop. When i was at a red light turning left, I had to keep pushing the button after it shut off to keep the light flashing. Is something like this a setting somewhere, or was it an issue with that particular car? Anybody else experience this and/or can offer any insight?

3 flashes is normal if you hold the turn button too long. In this case for more than .5 seconds or so.

To have them stay on requires just an immediate tap of the button.

My experience is that even after you get familiar with the 'feel' of the turn signal button, I still often get the three flash lane-change sequence instead of the constant turn-signal. Initially I thought it had something to do with where on the button you pushed, but reading the manual it seems the design calls for a brief press for turn-signal. But, about half the time I get the lane change sequence and then need to press the button again... minor irritant.

Sounds like I just held it in too long.

Really simple ... just quick hit for ON, at a stop to turn R or L.

Hold it down a second or more for 3 flashes in traffic switching lanes. Intuitive and safe, because in traffic you can hold it down as long as you want, and focus on driving.
