Well said, that interior is hard to take! What I don't get is so many folks love it. It looks to me like an impression of quality.

The FF interior is miles better, to my taste...

Wasn't turbo lag. It would just sit there doing NOTHING. And very random as to when it would do it. I can put up with turbo lag.

Reading all these post here must make your head spin and leave you even more confused then before.
Do yourself a great favor and just test both cars, FF and Bentley back to back (preferably V8S and Speed, since they differ in character a bit),
You will know immediately which appeals to you more, regardless of what you read here written by fanboys of both brands.

The throttle-by-wire system freezing up perhaps?

On the right track, I think. My X5M came with a faulty throttle controller (the device that changes throttle movement into an electrical signal). Sometimes I would push down on the accelerator and basically nothing would happen. It was eventually fixed with a new controller. The system would on its own decide (intermittently of course) that the driver wanted to put on the brakes so it would interpret any further throttle movement as an unsafe/mistaken application of the accelerator and refuse to send a signal to increase the power. The dealer service wasn't too bad -- they found it in the second trip. Never happened again. I was not a happy camper when it was happening. There is nothing like expecting the rush of 627 hp and nothing happening.

    Hi,

I've had three Bentley's so far a Continental GT a newer GT Speed and a Supersports. The CGT SS is by far the best! However it was only for 2 passengers and at times it was kind of annoying!

The Bentley is an amazing car also in the snow with winter tires and the suspension lifted up! The FF is longer, faster and feels like it has a "soul". I love the Bentley SS but since they didn't make a new one it was time to get an FF! Loving it so far... 20k mi and counting...

I test drove a Supersports and a v8s as well as the FF. For me the Conti feels brilliantly put together but had less rear space for the kids. Also here in the UK the Conti has a very questionable image - definitely a footballers car, it really has hurt their image. Also it just isn't special enough - it's a rich tasteless persons daily driver because a 911 is too sporty...

I did love the Supersports - dynamically is incredible for the mass it has, but the fF leaves it for dead in the corners and feels far lighter than the difference.

My choice from Bentley right now would be probably an 08 Azure or Brooklands. Proper old school cars, or I'll wait to see if they make a 2 door Mulsanne coupe. Although I am strangely drawn to a last of the line Arnage T mulliner - it would provide a totally different experience to the FF and I think compliment it perfectly. And they cost buttons now too. Love a hand turned ally dash...

I think the only 2+2 I am listing after to go alongside the FF is a BMW i8. Incredible thing...

I also don't agree with the 70yr old stigma... I'm 32 and my wife 34, and we had a GT Speed for a few years, and she drives a Flying Spur now (needed room for car seats...) I think the older gentleman's car was from the Arnage days, not since the Conti introduction.

I can not comment on the FF, as I have never driven one, but can speak about the CGT... They are really big and heavy cars, which on a sports car forum sound really bad, but I do think that adds to the luxury aspect... There was never a lack of power in traffic or on the highway, but I honestly did not ever try to push the car in the handling dept, as that's not what it is meant for...

I do not think they are necessarily comparable cars, even in speed form, as the Bentley is really more of a luxury car with a sporty feel, vs. the FF which is just a larger sports car... How is it going to be driven? how important is a convertible?

The Wraith is a different world again... My F-in-L has a V8 CGT and a wraith, and regrets getting the RR, as it doesn't have much more interior space and drives like a bigger heavier car than the CGT.. I don't think he'll have it for long, but will take a bath...

We occasionally search around for something to compare the FF to. There really is nothing so we do the next best thing -- find something that is big and powerful and costs a lot. Those cars invariably have their own charms and things to recommend them, but they are not FFs so we end up back where we started. The FF really defines itself in its own class. I doubt if anyone else will make anything like it; there is probably not enough money in it (and who has a V12 like it).

Not for everyone. We know that. Though i am always amused by the passions it arouses in people who would never get one in the first place. :)

I ended up deciding to go with a Supersports over the FF. I have not looked back...

    Absolutely love the Bentley.

good move. I haven't driven an FF but I love the Bentley coupes. I'm 33 years old and would rather have the bentley over the Ferrari and never in my wildest dreams would I thought I'd say something like that. The FF competes in a category Ferrari should not be competing in IMO.

I can't imagine the resale market will be kind to the FF if others share my view.

Had two Bentleys, one after the other before the FF. Simply no comparison. FF beats the Bentleys hands down in every dept.

For you it does. For others the Bentley is more appealing. They all have to be a little different otherwise they wouldn't have their audiences. The thing about the FF is that it really truly is a Ferrari and if thats what you want- then theres only one place to get it. Its quite an impressive car as is the Bentley and even the Roller. They just aren't for me.

I'm 31 years old and daily drive a 2010 Bentley Continental GT. Amazing, reliable, great looking, sporty and luxurious car. Zero complaints. Only reason I'm selling it is because I've had for 1.5 years and I like to change cars more often than others.

I haven't driven a Prius but I sure don't want one of them. :) Warning though, drive a FF and drive it like it is a rental car and you will sell everything just to get the FF. I've driven a Bentley, they are VERY cool. Every time I visit my dealer I drool on every Bentley on the dealership floor then remember the drive, and that I will happily drive my FF home.

Not even close. The FF is a Ferrari, sounds like one, moves like one, gets the blood moving like one, costs like one.

NO - very good point, and one that I think is true for many of the higher-end cars, as segments are less defined and options are limited... I would imagine the target buyer for the F12 is fairly different than for the Aventador... Each has it's own characteristics going after very specific buyers... I would guess that the 'segment' is:
    Ferrari FF
    Bentley GT Speed / SS
    Panamara Turbo S?
    Mercedes S63/S65?
    Wraith?

Even as I sit and think about which I would buy, I think it would largely depend on what else is in the garage and how I would use it, which are both highly unique variables...
    - I likely wouldn't get the Bentley, but that's largely because my wife has one and I prefer the others (911 TTS, FF, etc) for a 2+2
    - I likely wouldn't get the panamara, even though it's an amazing car (had a Turbo previously), as I would prefer the S63/65 for true 4-door versatility (better rear seats, more luxury, etc..)
    - I wouldn't get a wraith as I just don't see the point
    - If I had an 'exotic' (458, Huracan, 650s, etc) I would probably get the S63/S65, as I personally think it better compliments the exotic (adding versatility and luxury), and provides a less noticeable car for the office
    - If I had a DD Sports car (911 TTS, R8, etc) I would probably get the FF to add a bit more flair, and use it primarily on evenings/weekends...

That's what's great about all of these cars, it they're all really good at exactly what they want to be good at, but that creates lots of sub-segmentation providing amazing options for consumers!
