g Not sure I would agree with that statement. Yes the MB F1 car seems kind of good in the right hands (LH), but it is not a road car... Having owned a few MB's I say my FF is way better on areas like engine and gearbox. The only areas where the MBs seems to win is that it is a cheaper car to buy and insurance seems cheaper. Not a bad thing, but my point is: Everyone thinks and values each car different. It is what makes us human after all, we are individuals after all
The mb is also much nicer inside, u dont get sticky buttons and the technology is much better specially safety wise; lastly a s63 will set u back 180k a freaking lusso is twice aa much and its value plummets like crazy... I mean again dont get me wrong; awesome car; awesome tranny and engine but 400k...nuts! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
the ff will end up just like a 456 and a scaglietti: a car that can be had for under 80k very quickly... its the truth Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We get that. But its still a ferrari. A mb is like a rolex. No one really cares. Nice enough and good enough but doesnt give anyone butterflies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The AMGs aren't exactly a paragon of value retention either and thats really not he point. Everyone will make their choice.
Well this thread is about value right? So if buying a ff or lusso in the mid 350’s in 2012 only to have that car at around 150k that says a lot about the value of the car. Whether it’s justified or not, perception that the ff is a weird kind of practical ferrari has clearly hit its value...whats weird though is every dealer i met say its a relatively easy sell for them in the use market....so not bad for everyone. Similar losses % wise, note that the s coupe which i an referring was only produced since 2015 though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks. So brand new these cars were like $170k. On average they seem to be trading around $33k? That is a loss of 80% of value over 7 model years (were into 2019 now). Compare to FF. What were these average brand new? $350k? and today worth around $150k? Its lost 57% of its value over those same 7 years. Now, I am sure you will say the Merc has lost less in dollar terms. Yes, because it cost less to begin with. And the typical Merc has gone more miles than the typical Ferrari. Likely this is true. But as you said, you wanted to discuss the market place. I haven't really followed these things that closely over the past few years, but I remember a few years ago noticing that the first year depreciation for an AMG is pretty severe. Even on the 4 seat Ferrari, the model known for depreciation, I don't think its anything as severe in the first year, or even the first 2 years. In the end I think its a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. They are just different products, made by different companies and occupy different market segments. I've owned many of these cars. They are all very good. Whatever makes you happy. If you prefer the AMG, it certainly doesn't make you crazy. But don't mistake what's right for you for what's right for everyone.
Currently a ff with miles at millers cars is at 129k not selling another at 119k...not selling... that’s a true comparison and then the % align. Again i have had a few ferraris and absolutely love them; i just don’t think the ff or lusso are that special for a ferrari...if u are to go in the daily driver category u are right its apples and oranges ... But hey in the end if i swap my s coupe for a lusso i would be extremely happy) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
let's not turn in this intro another pissing contest - FF vs AMG... Like others said, different car, different manufacturer for different group of customer looking for different things in their car. Happy that Natkingcolebasket69 found out that FF or Lusso is not for him before he purchased it. Imagine if he regret the purchase, right. Let's move on, back to 458 vs 488.. lol!
I think you have to really consider the fact that these cars are a little bit outliers in some respects. It would be like me saying gee a 2012 S63 AMG with 200k miles and missing a popular option (roof) isn't selling for its asking price of $15k. No kidding it isn't selling. (I also think those cars will sell as they are still Ferraris and the price will eventually find where it needs to be.) Listen, for objective transportation, I could find many far less expensive options to your S63AMG. An S550 would look about the same, be more comfortable, and probably have greater (if slightly) value retention over that same time period and you are tying up less capital also. Ideally, one would have a non Ferrari daily car that suits them for the times when the Ferrari is out of place or you don't want to show it, and then have a car like the FF or GTC4 for those times when you want to enjoy the Ferrari in a daily role. If you can afford the FF/ GTC4, you can probably afford whatever daily car you like. I don't know why this has to be an either / or/ discussion. Anyway, I used to get really depressed when the seasons were changing, and part of that (yes, I know I have problems!) was realizing I was going to put my F Cars away for 95% of the days. Not any more. I am loving this GTC4. You might be surprised to learn the ride comfort is (my opinion) better than the S Class coupe I had on vacation. And the rear seat space is a little more too and my children say its more comfortable. When describing it, I say its kind of like having that nice AMG S Class Coupe one minute, and then having ¾ of an F12b the next. Except, its always a Ferrari. The touch screen interface is generally very well thought out and I would put on par with the Mercedes system- I haven't tried their new MBUX yet. The Mercedes does have more features and those might matter more to you. I just love that I can enjoy a Ferrari all the time. No matter how it might not seem it, our time on this rock is limited, so I want to make the most of each and every moment. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. But you can bet I am going to make the effort. Its very much worth it to me.
As a guy who currently owns a 2015 S63 Sedan and is considering a FF or F12, thank you for this thread detour to give me more research to base a decision on! I can't afford both, so I have been debating for a while. Bought the S63 used 18 months ago for 45% of MSRP, so depreciation is bad if you find the right deal. Never owned a Ferrari before, can't comment on that side of the equation.
for anyone looking merlin just posted a nice one https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/2014-ferrari-ff-nero-nero-4k-miles-suspension-lift-white-stitching.576143/
njcycleguy posted a really nice one too.. lol https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/2012-ferrari-ff-135-900.587947/ In all seriousness, these cars are absolutely fantastic. Drive one and you will be a believer. I'm truly on the fence selling but I have a Pista coming and am considering doing Challenge for 2019.
I am sure he ll be back. Seriously everyday I get in my FF (now next to my F12) I think I should have bought this car sooner. Just sayin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
