    Hi all,
Those with a FF: what is your engine water temperature range while idling/sitting in traffic when ambient temperatures are above 75 degrees F?
Just trying to identify some weird behavior of my car with respect to engine water temperature. It seems to easily approach 245F when idling in traffic. Even as quickly as idling at a traffic light.

    Thanks.

On a hot day between 90-100 deg celsius, over 100 if I push the rev count and I’m passing through a hot stuffy tunnel

Same as above high 80's to 90 degrees C when running.

Pushing 100 C when sat in traffic. Those engines produce a lot of heat.

Thank you for the replies. I regularly see temps rise up towards 240F (115C) when I am sitting/idling in traffic. Temp falls as expected when moving along.
This is in the northeast USA where we regularly see 90F and high humidity in the summer.
I realize these engines generate a lot of heat but my water temperatures seem to get too high.
I’ll have to start with a coolant change and replace thermostat. Start there.
    Thank you folks!

As above, around mid 90 degrees C when outside temp is around mid 90's.

Maybe the coolant level is low.
My FF hit 105°C when operating in stop-and-go traffic, even when outside temps where moderate.
After adding coolant the problem's gone.

If the car is at a stop and the engine temps are high you should be able to hear the electric radiator fans running. They are what circulate air over the radiators when stopped.

I’m curious about this too. I’ve noticed temperatures reaching as high as 240 a couple of times recently. And this is just after an annual service which included coolant flush.
    So is this normal?

I have been told that the cooling system is pressure tested during the annual service, which can lead to some coolant beeing lost.
