Does anyone have experience of the Fi Exhaust on a FF?
if you can get one for a ridiculous deal its prob worth closing your eyes and hoping for the best if there expensive then i say go with the known choice - novitec
Hi, all. I'm resurrecting this old thread to see if anyone has additional information on the topic of an FI exhaust on a FF. If not, I might in about a month. I went to my local trusted exotic shop asking about Novitec, but they were big on FI. My car is going in at the end of April to get the cat-back system installed -- unless someone talks me out of it here!
And this guy who seems to be pretty knowledgeable, bought $1000 exhaust off eBay and says everyone else is crazy FWIW
I actually watched this video that you posted in another thread this morning after I posted my note above! It did indeed give me heart. And I'm always down to listen to another Ferrari. The weather looks good next weekend. I'd love to bring mine down and we can compare stock v Novitec -- and we can do it again in May and hear FI v Novitec!
You may want to just leave the stock exhaust and add catless downpipes/high flow cats with x pipe. When the stock exhaust opens the valve it's not much different sounding than most other exhausts when valves open up. The real change in sound comes from X pipe and the downpipes.
That’s me and my car. I’ve listened to so many customer cars over the years running premium exhaust systems and I can’t say they sound any better than the $1300 exhaust I bought off of eBay. Of course, sound is a very subjective thing.
Thank you for the video! As I said, it gave me heart in my process. I don't think there are objectively right or wrong answers on the question of which pipes to use -- the stock pipes aren't offensive to me, but it is in my nature to make modifications -- and it is good to hear differing perspectives. Beyond the discussion of the pipes, your video was a fun watch as an FF owner.
It's really quite nice. Robotic TIG welded for the most part. 304 stainless which is more than adequate for a cat-back. Inconel or 321 stainless would only make sense in the header or (if applicable) a turbo manifold where exhaust temps are the highest. Titanium would certainly make it more expensive and a bit lighter but I'd imagine weight savings would be under 5lbs. So in other words, the Rev9/Ebay option is perfectly suited for the application. It's got packed muffler , exhaust valves and sounds really good (as you can hear in the video). So I'm really struggling to find any real world compromise of using it versus some of the more expensive name brand options that cost many times more. For what it's worth, I also installed a Rev9/ebay exhaust on my 458 several years ago. Perfectly happy with it for the same reasons. I'll be happy to remap your ECUs. We have an at-home programming tool (OpenFlash Tablet) that does the job. I haven't been a sponsor on this forum for several years so I don't want to brake any rules there. But feel free to look at our website and reach out to us via email with any questions you may have. I'll be happy to answer to the best of my ability. -shiv
Thanks! Ben Revzin (the owner of the YouTube channel) does great work. The the magic of editing, he will even make an idiot like me look and sound marginally presentable
Excellent Choice! FI Exhaust are becoming more and more popular with the Ferrari Platform! Its amazing what an exhaust will do for this platform.
