Ferrari International Assistance, at it again as usual. What about the fact that 'team orders that affect the outcome of the race', etc, etc. Had that rule been followed, Massa would have gotten a DQ last year, and Kimi wouldn't have been WDC the year before. This rule is just stupid... it will be abolished the first time it results in some sort of outcome that isn't what the fans, or Ferrari, want.
Thing is Dave you know, I know, this rule is a backward move, and I've a strong suspicion you are probably right. The day Mad Max leaves F1, will be the greatest moment since Mona Lisa walked into the studio and said, I'm feeling a little odd today...
While I like to see drivers go for the win, now the risk of manipulation by the FIA is even greater: If they do another Spa 08 like decision, it could not only affect the points standing, but actually hand the title to their fav driver. PS: How does Massa feel right now? He'd be champion right now if they had had this system last year.
I like how the FIA has made just two exceptions in their new low budget formula. Motor home costs and FIA fines are not included in the cap
They really should have gone to a greater points spread for the top three rather than base it on wins then points. At least with a points spread, you have the greater possibility of the title being decided at the very last race as it has been for the past two years, whereas under this system you could have a winner conceivably in the 14th round and someone could rack up significantly more points based on consistent podiums and perhaps one fewer win, while the WDC washes out in the last few races. it should have been something like 15-10-5-4-3-2-1 so as to give a greater award for winning, but it still is close enough to keep the pressure on the leader at the end of the season.
What do you guys thinks about making public the car's weight...I prefer the guessing game in the opening laps of the race as to who is light, and trying to guess pit strategy.
I think they would be better off just filling up all the cars and letting them go. That way everyone would be on full tanks and would need to sort out their pit strategy as to what gets them to the very end on near dry tanks.
jesus - could this sport be any more f-ed up???? Ugly-ass cars, non-stop drama and rule changes.. X WTF????? Sick of Bernie & Max; these two can justify anything in their minds....
I wonder what the penalties will be when the inevitable occurs. Maybe a change in race winner. Nothing would be a surprise after last season.
HE won't pull over, he will find a way to blow it up, slide into a wall, clip off a corner of the front wing, end up in the kitty litter, etc.
i just have this feeling after 1 season, the FIA will most likely opt for the 12-9-etc points system. Because, as much as i like the new proposal, i think it will be weird, and new fans to the sport could end up confused.
Interesting. It would seem that the new system might create situations where it may be adventagious for a back marker to "take out" a leader. Not that it could ever happen
This could begin an era of "B" team resurgence and thus full competitive fields. Come on Williams ! However "adjust elements of these freedoms..." equals ; political shenanigans based on Bernie and Max's greed.
AUtosport.com takes forever to load here. But interesting comments from Schumi. personally, i think FIA screwed up big time since 2003 with the 2 point gap between 1st and 2nd place.
