I am looking at fixing up a pair of these.
I have the correct paint colour for the trumpets but rather than masking I would like to remove them from the cast body of the horns.
I don't know though if they unscrew or pull off, without using too much brute force I have tried both but to no avail.
Does anybody know the correct technique before I try too hard and break something?

They unscrew. See the threads on these horns:

You loosen the large jam nut then unscrew the trumpet by hand.

If there is a word of caution, the jam nuts are nickle plated brass, handle them carefully and with the correct size wrench.

just a few years later I have the same problem removing the trumpets.

It seems I have a different version because there is no nut just some pice of plastic.

Any idea how to get the trumpet out of the body?

    Thank you!

Stefan, if yours are pitch tuned by screwing the trumpets in/out, the trumpets would screw out like the earlier 60's version-- at top of this thread.

Those are not vintage Fiamm horns. There are some modern reproductions that are incorrect for a vintage Ferrrari. They appear to be unserviceable, with the trumpet held into the body with a plastic grommet and the back of the horn is crimped onto the main body casting. Correct original Fiamm horns are not very hard to find or are very expensive. Do some searching on ebay and you can find a set for a reasonable price.

Thank you John and Brian - and I´m afraid Brian is right. I was able able to turn the trumpet but there is no thread. And it seems impossible to pull them out of the case.

Just out of curiosity do you think the plastic cover is repro, too?

Those horns are real Fiamm horns. They are just what Fiamm is now making using cheaper modern manufacturing methods. They have the right look and sound, but are not identical to the old period horns. They are fine if you want the air horn sound, but are not correct for a proper vintage restoration.

Ok, thank you. Now I got it - real Fiamm horns but not real vintage Fiamm horns.

And you're absolutely right, they really sound like the old horns.
