    The "BAT 1" designation was invented for this car by an auction catalogue writer who probably thought he was being clever by promoting a car in the most flattering and interesting light possible. While perhaps raising the expectations of the seller and potential buyers? To be fair, I'd considered the possibility that there might be some precursors to the B.A.T. series introduced to the public on the Alfa Romeo 1900 chassis. Conceptually, some similarities can be found in certain design elements. Promotionally, none whatsoever.

    The Abarth-Fiat Bertone is a very interesting car but the "BAT 1" designation is pure hype from recent years and nothing more. Some might consider it an affront to the true "BAT" cars which now number four ... with Bertone's latest release. Agree with it or not, I would think that Bertone is the only one allowed to place a "B.A.T." moniker on a car. Certainly not I, nor an auction catalogue writer.
