Hi All, Well after missing Mondialpalooza, and most of the events this summer, I finally got to go to the FIAT break out here in Montreal. It is a pretty good event with all kinds of Italan cars. I got to see 3 examples of one of my favorite cars, the DeTomasso Pantera. There were lots of Ferraris, Alphas, Fiats and a few Ducati bikes. Image Unavailable, Please Login
And here is a picture of me and Margherita my trusty Mondial. I really got a lot of compliments. It is great to have people ask me questions about the car. There was also a few guys thinking of joining the brotherhood. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for coming out and posting this!!! The Breakout is the largest italian car event in Canada and was, once again, a tremendous success with over 180 vehicles registered that day including vespas and bikes. If you guys want to plan a "Mondial" meet, we could do it within the Breakout and create a special "Mondial" section with a "Mondiacanapalooza" banner or something.....I'd love to do that within the Breakout itself.
If we are to do this every couple of years, I would certainly be game to take up the mantle BUT I certainly don't expect to come close to our illustrious hosts bench mark! our advantage is the Montreal is within two hours of Quebec City, Ottawa and the Laurentian Mountains, and lots of beautiful drives around here.
From Wikipedia "Ford ended their importation to the U.S. in 1975, having sold roughly 5,500 cars in the United States. De Tomaso continued to build the car, however, in ever-escalating forms of performance and luxury for almost two decades for sale in the rest of the world. These included the GT5, which had bonded and rivetted wheelarch extensions and the GT5S model which had blended arches and a distinctive wide-body look. The car continued to use a Ford V8 engine, but the 351 was eventually changed to the Ford 302 cu in (5.0 L). The last Panteras built (the Si) were producing around 500BHP. A small number of Panteras was imported to the US by gray market importers in the 1980s, notably Panteramerica and AmeriSport. In all, about 7,200 Panteras were built." Mike, I think you're talking about that green one. The restoration job is fantastic, it is in really nice shape!
Guys if I decide to book my agenda for next summer. Which one should I go, Fiat breakout or Italian week?
Claude, both local Ferrari clubs have stopped attending all events in Little Italy because there isn't adequate security and they always promise to rope-off the cars and they don't so most nice italian cars have stopped going and they have replaced it with Muscle cars which don't really fit an italian event. The Fiat Breakout is an exception because Club Fiat Montreal handles it and it attracts cars/people from far away (New York state, Toronto, Ottawa, etc...) We volunteer ourselves to make sure the cars are secure and roped off properly. The crowd is also smaller so you can get a table on a terrasse without having to wait 2 hours. We also have a corporate rate at the hotel and a free dinner on saturday night for all the "out-of-towners". Italian week will never give you that much. If you decide to come next year we would love to have you join us...
Thanks Fab, I will weep this in mind. I will also talk to my friend to be there with the Diablo and the Pantera if possible. And hopefully my 308GTB will be ready this time.
I have a big mouth but when I use it you can be certain you'll get the truth from me. Sensitivity and sugar coating are not my best qualities but honesty certainly is.
