If that were an X-19, would it still be worth 10k? :D

The Fiat engine has timing chains, the GT4 has belts. The price difference is the market allowance for timing belt changes.

I think you're all comparing apples & oranges.

    Compare:
Ferrari 206-246 - Lancia Stratos. - Fiat Dino
    Dino 308 gt4. - Ferrari 308 carbed
    Ferrari 308 (i-qv). - Ferrari mondial (8-qv)
    Ferrari 328. - Ferrari mondial 3.2

Take also production numbers in count

On my list of cars I would like to own are the 308 gt4 en Fiat Dino 2 cars I dearly want, besides my Mondi qv and Lancia Fulvia Sport.

Look at the price difference between a 328 and a mondi 3.2. That while a longer wheelbase makes it more drivable. On the other hand, the mondi is heavier. If I would be a buyer now, I'd prefer a mondi over an overpriced 3x8. ;) Same car - other dress. But we all know: the prettiest girls are the heaviest in our wallet.

But it's fun to see the market picking up things, and raise it to a level nobody expected it to be. It's like stockmarket for cars. :D

I'm not sure the dress is the only difference with Mondial, but thats something else.

We don't need to compare Apple's to Apple's, the market sure isn't.

Wait the Mondial came with a dress? I did not get one with my GT4 4! :-! I agree with Bart the Dino has the V6 so groped more with the 206/246/ Stratos. I wish I had a Stratos. I do love both Fiat Dinos but they have the less business like interior than the Ferraris. I like the Dino Spyders face the front headlights remind me of the mangusta!

I do know this not sure when it will happen but the market will crash again someday just like the stock market, even with all the rich I think it is at an unsustainable trajectory. I have seen this movie before………..

I personally love it in that green.

For me though the Dino Coupe is utterly sublime and one of the most beautiful cars ever.

These Fiat Dino Spiders 2.4 where produce in very limited production at Ferrari.

    Only 424 Made at Ferrari.
The 2.4 Spider is very different than the 2.0 ranging from the engine, brakes, suspension, transmission.

Fiat Dino 2.4 Spider ares getting pretty hard to find.
These days car enthusiast hardly know the about these 2.4. Spider

As per a correct value on the Fiat Dino's, I would not be surprised to see a steady raise in price specially on the rare Spiders 2.4

Was going to say several collectors JIM G. and J. Leno each have an example of the Dino.

    Always loved the shape.

Where did you find that quilted insulation for under the hood?

I always liked those cars and would jump at one for a reasonable price but I'm sure that ship is long gone.

I was a student at USC in 1984 when someone donated one to the University for a tax write off that the University was to sell. It was stored in the Security office where I worked. A couple of the security officers took it out for a run and managed to blow the engine. Not sure specifically what happened but it went from a running car to one that they sold for next to nothing that needed an engine rebuild.

Quite beautiful. Great choice of color exterior/interior and love the Ragno wheels. Someone has an eye for detail.

    Thanks guys
This dino took me a while to bring back to life. Originally bottle green color purchased in Como Italy and lived most of its life in the UK. I have all the historical since the day it was sold in 1971

Now she is running really strong. I have also enlarged the jet's and also running the car on 98 octane. She is fast !
As per the hood fire pad. I got lucky and found one from an old collector that had one new old stock. Mine was old very tired.
For a minute I played with the idea of selling it and move to a new project.
But the more I drive it the more I love the way it drives and sounds.

Very nice. I said it once already, I'll say it again, it doesn't surprise me a bit that these cars are shooting up in value.

Beauty accounts for a lot when it comes to car values.

Furthermore, based on looks, and what is still most appealing today (curves over edges) I could see the value of this car passing 328 values ($70K-$200k).

I could be mistaken, but the engine was half Ferrari and half Fiat with the heads being from Ferrari. Please correct me if I am wrong?
