FICO score reqd for Amex Platinum Card?

    Does anybody know what the FICO score required would be? I'm aiming to get the Centurion card (at least 3-4 trips a year, that alone would pay the fees), but need the Platinum first unfortunately. So ya, does anybody know what the minimum FICO score Amex looks for is? I recall somebody saying their wife works for AMEX.

    not sure if i am reading ur question right but i think all u need to do is spend $150,000 in a 12 month period.

    The spending threshold is nowhere near 150K. More likely around 25K for Platinum.

    Sort of. What I'm looking for is the requirements (aside from income... the FICO score mainly) to get the platinum card. And you are correct, its $150g in 12months you have to spend to get the centurion (verified by amex).

    Why won't they tell you what FICO you need? Doesn't seem like it should be a secret.

    AMEX doesn't use FICO. They have their own proprietary credit review/reporting system.

    Well, they look at everything that everyone else looks at...

    1. Debt to Income ratio
    2. Percentage of available credit used
    3. Number of credit inquiries in past 12-36 mo
    4. Late payments/judgements/write offs/leins/forclosures/bankrupcy/collection

    That's about it. Then they run it through their proprietary algorythm to determine their own credit score.

    You might go to the finance forum at http://www.fatwallet.com and search the archives for an answer. They seem to talk about the platinum vs. black card a lot.
