Sorry to hear that you got pinched for reckless :( !! I got a reckless in Virginia back in December (Only doing 85 in a 60 at 4 AM  !! That's weak for reckless...), and hired a great lawyer recommended by fellow F-Chatter FOU. Ended up getting the reckless driving charge tossed, but still got hit with a 74 in a 60 ticket and using an illegal (Only in VA, OK, and Wash DC.) radar detector. Total cost to me was $1100, but I walked with no record of the ticket on my NC license. And my insurance doesn't know about it either :D !!!

Good luck getting your situation resolved!! I have felt your pain

Most of the judges in the Commonwealth hate the automatic reckless charge at 80+ and will drop it anyhow if you were not driving erratically or doing that speed in slower traffic. They see the radar detector law, however, as a great revenue stream from folks trying to skirt the law. ;)

Yeah, the trooper even told me that the radar detector fines make the Commonwealth a lot of $$$, and they are told to enforce it all the time.

My attorney told me that the prosecutor was really uptight about dismissing the reckless driving charge (even though the Trooper said I wasn't driving in a reckless manner, just driving fast because I had a long drive ahead of me, NC to CT...) and it took a lot of smooth talking by both my atty and the tropper (They both know each other and are friends :) ) to get the reckless driving charge dropped to a mere speeding ticket of 74 in a 60. It was good to know that my license was going to stay clean :D and well worth the $1100. But it still sucks to fork over $1100 :(

Hey, glad to hear that worked out for you. Chris got tapped for a judgeship out there, so next time he will be the judge if you get a ticket in that county. glad I could help.

FOU, you are THE MAN!!!! Thank you once again for the recommendation of Chris Clemens, he did quite a good job of dealing with an uptight, an*l prosecutor. Hopefully, I won't need to call upon him as a judge  , but it's good to know this info., just in case :D !!!

    Thanks again!!!
