    Hello all,

I'm wondering if someone can help me with a missing part on my GT4.
I have this hole, you can see where this is on the rear side of the engine in relation to the timing cover and the diff -

I cant find any details on what belongs there (plug, drain tap, sensor??), all of the diagrams I usually reference don't show this.
All I could find was a screengrab of someone else's motor, and it looks like they have a drain tap there.

I know there is a drain tap on the front side of the engine, above the starter motor. Would this just be the same part used on both sides of the engine? Do I need both taps, or do I just need one and plug the other?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Stew.

Tap and install a new petcock valve for coolant drainage.

As above, put a petcock drain in, makes it so much easier to drain coolant and attach a pipe to it, no mess at all

Plugged mine after the original tap self-welded itself in place and fell appart upon attempted removal!

    Thanks guys,
I think I will source another drain tap, and will run one on each side of the crank case.

I think that threaded port is meant to have a drain plug 42 installed -- note that there's only one 42 shown in the SPC figure, but the quantity in the SPC parts list is 2. Here's a shot of a 308QV engine with the drain plug in place:
