Same to you and yes we did on a few occasions.... Hmm, let's see, anyone with suggestions regarding Pinot Noir ....
+1 Not a season for the ages, but I remember many others that weren't as good. Congratulations. Post your choice(s!) and I'll get it (them!) in the mail. Now, *next* year........... Cheers, Ian
BTW, I reckon Bernie has to take quote of the year when asked about Austin; "They just need a pen and some money!" Maybe we should start a "most memorable moment/comment" thread to keep us occupied for a few months...... Cheers, Ian
Amazing how eloquent/gracious/humble young Vettel is; great post-race interview. Wasn't a fan of him initially, but the kid seems to be the whole package. But I'm sure next season will be a lot more challenging. At least I hope so . See you in 4 months folks.
Please come back in February with your comments about pre-season testing. I'm sure the eternal optimists will be out again in full force.
ADD kicking in? The season's been over for quite some time. It's a shame that the testing limits mean that if a team isn't correct with their initial design their season's over before it's begun.
consolation prize for webber, such a poor season he had in the fastest car massa should be given a fine for doing that donut
I'd like to hear some thoughts on the gearbox situation. Looks like a number of teams paid a heavy price for THAT economy.
I find Vettel having a gearbox problem a bit suspicious, but you all know what I think of conspiracy theories.
I was talking with an Fchatter yesterday and we both thought RB would "gift" a victory to Webber in this race. and looky what happened....
yeah...well, we'll never know for sure. Let's just pretend not At worst MW would have come 2nd, which is a good effort from him this year!
Vettel's gearbox problems were truly mysterious: Despite loosing all those gears he managed to come in just seconds behind Webber. Particularly with these Ueber boxes they have today it is a bit binary: either they work or they don't We saw with Hambone how a gearbox failure really looks: Some early warning and then the car rolls out within a lap I wouldn't be surprised if this was a victory gifted to Webber for staying put. Also he didn't look like he was beside himself with joy over the victory.
Well yes, if I read I will post. Vettel well that one I just don't know, I suppose they fooled me, the reason : I cannot understand why they would have to lie about it. Why mention it over the radio so early on, lap 5 was it..? Maybe it was all phantom I don't know.
I watched the race on DVR and was wondering the same ting. Did anyone else catch that they had to tell Vettel to slow down a second time a few laps after the problem first manifested (after he started pulling away from webber again)? And Vettel was never even close to losing P2... I'm voting for webber getting an early holiday present...
I agree it should be but the whole thing kind of stinks to me. I think the gearbox issues were a set up to let Webber take the race without having to flirt with "no team orders" rule. Don't get me wrong, they have great cars but it certainly didn't seem to slow Vettle down after he let Webber past.
Tough to play fair when the house is crooked. No harm no foul. It was going to be an RB one two either way and the championship standings were unaffected. Personally were I Webber I would be insulted though.
He has said he wouldn't want a gift more than once, but who knows. BBC said a few cars had gearbox problems, and it wasn't totally unexpected due to end of life stuff, which makes perfect sense...as I said, we'll never know.
The gearbox "problem" made no sense. The onboard shots of Vettel's car showed him romping through all gears at max RPM (the shift lights on the dash lit up all the way). I agree, it was a gift to Mark. Oh, and despite his "problem" he was able to stay safely clear of Button/Alonso...hmm...
