As Joey said, this has been all covered about a billion times, but here's one more:

All series Mondial wheels have a much larger offset from the factory at 44 - 50mm than all previous V-8 street Ferraris (11 - 20mm). This does two things by decreasing the scrub radius in the steering geometry: decreases steering effort due to the car weight and initially fitted 240 section front tires and decreases bump steer. This second reason is also related to the Mondials having ABS: you must have a near zero scrub radius on the front wheels or the differential pulsing of the ABS could pull the steering wheel out of the drivers hand. This is why most subsequent Ferraris with ABS (e.g. 348) have wheels easier to cross-fit to the Mondial while the others are less good.

Having the same bolt circle, ealier wheels will bolt up to the Mondial hubs; however, with the decreased eary offsets this will place the centerline of the low offset wheel outboard of the centerline of the stock wheel, pushing the wheel and tire outward. This will somewhat increase the steering effort, increase bump steer and put a torsional load on the wheel bearings as the weight centerline is outboard of its design point. It also increases 'bite' a little bit at turn in depending on your other geometry settings.

Sooooooooooooo, you can bolt up smaller offset wheels to the Mondial - it just changes things a bit. Here is a photo I posted of a Mondial with small offset 16" 308 GTB QV wheels to demonstrate the pushing outward of the wheel and tire.
