Gents, Looked at the program and it shows "test and presentation of the 458 Challenge EVO" on Monday. I asked my dealer what the EVO is all about and they are checking with the factory. Anybody has more info on specs and details of the 458 Challenge EVO? Regards, M
No hard info, but my guess and speculation is that they might want to update the cars with some bits derived from the 458 Speciale.
they added front splitter and rear wing to standard challenge car. will be retrofitted to all challenge cars for next season.
Actually in North America it will be an option. 2 classes Evo and normal C458. I'm guessing the normal 458 will be faster on a lot of tracks.
didnt know about the classes, but the evo kit will be greatly welcome to improve downforce at high speeds.
that's what FNA and Corse Clienti folks from Maranello told us. New diffuser, rear bumper, GT3/GA-ish rear wing, front bumper, splitter, undertray, and a pile of new bracketry. We're on to test Monday morning assuming they have a car (as of early September they did not yet have a test vehicle). Question for many is going to be cost/performance tradeoff, but if it works should make the car much happier in quick corners. Pricing is TBD at last inquiry....
Latest update from my dealer: Evo will have same engine, transmission, ... as normal 458C. Only difference will be an aero kit (type GT3). Kit will be installable on the normal, existing 458C. Price difference will be +20k (excl. VAT) for EVO version.
No info but I did receive a free hat offer in my email (for anyone who wants it). Image Unavailable, Please Login
from Corse Clienti's tech people at Mosport... The car (458C) stays exactly the same. Only changes may be the new updated halo seats. The "kit" is a revised rear end (upper/lower bumper, diffuser), rear wing (spec tbd), revised front bumper (looks like GT3/GA), front splitter, plus revised front undertray pieces, plus the brackets et al. That was what they knew/planned as of early September, at the time there were on drawings, no prototypes. Plan is to have example(s) avail for testing Monday after Mugello. Costs I've heard everything from 20-50K Euros, though that's all rumor.
If FNA keeps going the way of higher and higher costs there are a lot of us thinking about going to Lambo at $35K per race weekend total costs (no damage costs, no purchasing a $300K+ car, etc, etc.)
Guys, I'm at Parma Italy to do the Ferrari Challenge course, for ready to join the challenge race next year. And a guy from there factory showed me a white challenge Evo picture already, and you are right, the car is looks like 90% same as the GT3, the only diffrence compare to the GT3 from my eye looking is no wide body. And they told me the new front bumper design to cool down the brakes a lot more than the previews model, it take fresh airs from front instead from under. and here's another text message he just replied to me:" Now the challenge evo is only one and is in Padova. The car is available and you can test on monday 11november on Mugello after finali mondiali." Hope these information helps.
